@Elite-Team-Killer Vanguards dont have shields. Archers are not necessary to have a medieval warfare experience. Archers are unfair in TO because they don’t have to fight in melee whereas every other class has to. They just sit back behind their team, shooting people. No shield or smoke pot can save you reliably, I’ve worn shields and I’ve thrown countless smoke pots in my thousands of hours in the game and still I got shot in other parts of my body or through the smoke which lasts 10 seconds or so. They are so unbalanced that they are the only class that has a limit of players that can choose it in TO, otherwise it would be downright unplayable for everyone who isn’t an archer.
I don’t care that battles are where archers were used, I am trying to have fun in a video game. We don’t want archers removed from all TO, we want the no archer FFA server to be set back to TO so that we have atleast one server of TO where there are no archers. It is not an instance of git gud, there is no amount of skill, strafing, dodging, equipment or anything that can reliably save you from even a newer player who is 30 meters away and is playing archer. And that is the best case scenario, when you know he is aiming at you and there are none of his teammates in the way, you still can only decrease the chances he hits you, never erase them, and thats not what I am playing this game for, to run around hoping I dont get shot.
Please make the no archer FFA server TO again Torn Banner, there are still a few hundred players who play this game and we would benefit from that server immensely if it were TO, as FFA it does not help nearly as much because in FFA archers are not such a problem as previously explained.
@Retsnom That doesn’t change the fact that, in my experience, every single one of them are complete morons. Nor does it change the fact that unless it’s a private server, the standard rules are expected to be followed.
I appreciate the kind words. You touched on part of the attitude we have that we actually picked the company name and logo based on. The concept of refusing to give in despite being battered and bloodied to ultimately emerge victorious is synonymous with having the spirit of a warrior. For us the symbolism of a post-battle scene with a lone banner torn and damaged yet still proudly waving in the wind as a sign of hard-fought victory is inspiring and something we rally around as a team.

@Jonystrom would be more intresting if we can just hold the parry. than u dont have to read feints all the time. and if you want this to be balanced its very easy if u hold your parry you cant repost. if u wanna repost you need to parry excatly when the hit comes like in mordhau or in chiv1. so the game become more fresh but you can still play it like in the original ones. these games just dont wanna evolve.
Important Features to keep the game alive and to differ it from Mordhau:
- Bot-AI with different difficulty settings.
With a good AI even small groups of players can enjoy full scale battles. And new players can learn and play with easier to beat foes. A good AI also makes it possible to play the game alone or with only a few friends. Jedi Knight 2 and 3 had this many years ago and they also had singleplayer. I don’t understand why modern games neglect those features. (I am still playing JK3 and battlefront1 because of those features)
- Map Editor with Tutorials and documentary.
New content keeps the game alive and is good for people who like to be creative.
- “Gods mode” like “Zeus” from Arma3.
A player/moderator is the Master of the server and can spawn events/change weather conditions and spwan objects mission targets and so on. Why not putting a big fire breathing Dragon on the map that fights against both teams? Or a peasant rebellion or an Orc Horde!? An Earthquake or a Plague?
- Additinal game mods/ Minimods:
Horde, Mounted Tournament, Minigames like an (roboin-Hood-like) archer contest, throwing shooting or fist/knife fighting competitions. Like the Duel Maps from DW.
(In some old shooter games we had “best of pistol” or “best of knife” servers were people only used those weapons to have a completly different game expierence, it was great fun.)
- Story based Single player and Coop-Missions with role playing abilities. Similar like “Horde” but with more diversity and surprises. (I know this is a multiplayer game but, this would be something new and attract other kinds of players to the game.)
I always wished there was a game with a combat system of chivalry and a big roleplaying-World like ElderScrolls. In which you could travel and play missions with 4-16 other players.
- Interactive Wolrd:
Movable siege machines, destructable walls and towers, ladders to carry and place free, ropes and climbing hooks, fire effects (like in far cry 2), shovels to dig trenches and tunnels.
In my opinion the objective/siege modus was the best thing about chivalry and the game should focus on that mode.
