Chivalry and Oculus

  • I heard that Oculus Rift support might be something that could be implemented in the future. After looking at this demo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07IwxUD8N8E) showing what it can do combined with something like the Razer Hydra, I feel like this should be the way to go. The ways players interact with and control the game needs to be different for optimal immersion. Imho, to accomplish this Oculus mode should be a separate game mode that isn’t reliant on the current control schemes. This way normal gameplay does not have to be modified for the the sake of the Oculus and the actual Oculus mode could focus on immersion.

  • Hello ! Developers ? What about http://www.oculusvr.com/ Support ? :o

  • Full real time control of your swords?
Holy shit, I can only dream of that :p

  • Too cool, never heard of such a thing.

  • modified razer hydra controller with real time sensation.

  • Wow… First time seeing this and it looks very impressive! But I wonder how you would walk/sprint smoothly? :o

I saw a tech demo for something similar. And they had ways for walking with motion.

    Then they tried ragdoll physics.

That was hilarious. The guys character would suddenly trip over the ground then try and recorder itself then put itself in the ground and fly into the air and just need up as a spasm and it maxed the CPU and crashed due to a memory allocation error.

I don’t know where that video is though. And it was very similar to the Xbox kinect. Just far more precise and it could pick up finger movements. But it had a really bitchy way of turning around. You had to turn you head and lean.

  • It would be awesome! And it can be done, to all the people that skeptic about this all probs will be solved in time.
I really believe this is the way Chiv (or even Chiv 2) have to go. :D At first it still can support keyboard like this video shows …… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P50fvL_EWYY

Virtual reallity is the future, point. And it’s sooner than you might think.
