Running query, please help :)

  • Hey guys,

As you can see half way through this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7fGXrK9j2c
the man at arms, who is supposed to be the fastest in the game, is killed by his purseuer.

Im not sure if i’m doing something wrong or missing something obvious but can someone please explain why this is happening?

    Thanks

  • There’s a chase mechanic, if you are running closely behind somebody and keep your crosshair on them, you’ll go faster. The slowest class can always catch the fastest class

  • and that does……make sense to…whom ?

    Someone confirm?

You gotta remember, whenever someone is chasing you, they can always see where you are going, so it’s very easy for them to “cut corners” to catch up to you.

    Confirmed.

Without it knights would never be able to catch an archer.

I thought this was well known. Without it, an archer can continually “run away and shoot troll” a knight until they’re dead.

Plus it stops people from just running around enemies to objectives.

  • Yup, the chase mechanic is legit.

It was put in place due to grumps in the old Age of Chivalry mod they made, where people would run in, swing and run away again, and repeat.

The Chase mechanic allows you to catch someone up, especially Archers. You can still use your manoeuvrability well if you’re smart, but can’t just outright hit and run away as easy and expect no-one to ever catch ya heh.
