400 players came back but didnt stay

  • I noticed the steam stats jumped with the new patch. Then fell back to the lower number.

Personally I think it is the rage factor. The game is all about offense and using the numerous tricks to bypass parries.

Make it a real sword fighting, allow people who play defensively and like to have a more mental attack strategy succeed - at least for a couple of parries…

Right now its all about the high rankers bypassing any parry - regardless of well timed or not - to get the most kills. Facehugging MAAs that jump and hit you in the back are my personal favorite.

    Alright I`ll try it

  • Do people not know what the problems are?

Feinting and lookdowns, people came back, saw those were unchanged, and left. Not hard to get.

You do realize it’s the middle of the work week, right?

Player counts are not going to suddenly jump really high, let alone stay high, during the middle of the work week. It’s Wednesday here in Australia and I probably won’t get online to try out the new patch until the weekend. I imagine it’ll be much the same for most others.

Wait until the weekend and then repost the above 8-)

I’ve heard you say something like this in another thread before, how does a playerbase solve design problems and bugs in the game unless the game is able to be openly modded or something?

I mean adaptive play styles and learning how to counter things. Learning which players in a game do nasty things like feinting and lookdowns.

Looking at that is giving me a headache but someone has to do it.

  • Darkfall Unholy Wars is out. Reason I don’t play anymore :p Add a survival sandbox map and I’ll move my current residency.

  • I don’t play anymore because the game is in such a trainwreck of a state. No dev support (it took 4 months to release 1 patch), no content updates of any kind to keep the game fresh, and every server is just full of exploiters where it’s not even fun to play and bother trying to deal with them.

  • You’re forgetting about the 40,000+ people that didn’t stay.

  • Numbers were much higher than “just” 40000 when a game had over 23k concurrent players online at one time.

You mean like what the current “skilled players” are doing, by always being on the offense, facehugging and spamming feint? You COULD do that, or complain on the forums of how the game blows atm.

    Um.
[Insert Beta where we released a new build every week]
    Release Date - 10/16/2012
    Hotfix 1 - 10/22/2012
    Patch 1 - 11/22/2012
    Hotfix 2 - 12/4/2012
    Content Update 1 - 1/31/2013
    CU1 Patch 1 - 3/13/2013
    CU1 Patch 1.5 - 4/29/2013

True, they skipped February (or you can could say they skipped January) and true you could say they could release patches faster…but you can’t say there’s no dev support (and it certainly didn’t take 4 months to release a patch). And you can’t even say there hasn’t been any new content…why do i even bother responding.

    .

Yeah real sword fighting like this! Oh wait this damn thing is all offense too… Hmm… Well Spartacus the show has a lot of blocking in it, so like that I suppose.
