What is the DEV vision for this game?

  • Hi =) new player I bought the game straight away after I tried the demo on Steam and really it is very fun even dying is fun ( of which im doing alot of atm )

Could someone give me a link to a Dev post outlining you know their vision for this great game? I read through the forums and see alot of ah discussions and I did see a couple of Dev responses to threads ( very nice to see ) but more just on minute balance items for X wep vs this and or that. Bug fixes are a gimme so I assume they’ll do those but wheres the BIG picture stuff?

  • Just read all the topics in the dev discussion

    viewforum.php?f=90

  • Complete dominance by the pro competitive players. Save yourself time and go play another game. The devs don’t give two or even three shits about new players like you.

  • I think right now the main focus of the devs is getting this latest patch out (which you can find in the official news forum). Then after that I believe their main focus will be getting the SDK out and better server admin tools out.

  • Would be being extremly slow on bugfixing, extremly bad at bugfixing and extremly good at creating new bugs. Not to forget we need to wait a long ass time till we get new bugs-patches.

Like someone else said, this game isnt doing well atm. Check in 2 years again maybe (if its surviving)

  • @Uglyshit:

    (if its surviving)

Not with this current direction it won’t.

^ Yup, this. CR2 IS the BALANCE patch, therefore it’s understandable that a lot of the changes are going to be minute balance tweaks that cater moreso towards competitive play, (other players won’t really care whether their sword does 4 damage rather than 5 etc).

After this patch, I’m hoping they’ll focus on customisation and more content. More maps, and maybe even another mode. Then once the game’s shaped up nicely that’s balanced, few bugs and decent amount of base content, they could develop some off the wall DLC that changes things considerably.

Either ways yes don’t be put off by the current in-depth balance discussions, this is just the current stage of development. They’ll likely move onto focusing on other stuff once this patch is out. :)

They are focusing on customization next. This is the post for what the new customization screen might look like.

Plus the emblem contest was a way for the community to bring their own designs into Chivalry.

    Ohhhh you……

  • Oh I remember when I was new and laughed when I died. Now I’m raging and wondering how the heck a person got through my block or how he hit before me, as I drag a lot and use fast weapons. Then again it’s probably my own fault.

Anyhow I believe that their vision is somewhat to get the modtools out so that the community can create custom content and use while playing. Then they can focus on fixing bugs and other minor problems and let the community deal with new interesting content.

    When I die its either.
    1. My fault
    2. Some bastard snuck up behind me
    3. Archers.

Always those archers… TBS even had a voice command implemented specifically for mentioning how annoying they are.

  • great info thanks all, the customization for sure was high on my casual list :p didn’t want to say since so many are really good at the FPS/aiming part. More maps especially objective wise also for me are very fun

  • Some new classes would be cool, although that’s going to be a ways off for now I think.

  • I’d like to see another game mode involving the kings and/or peasants. Perhaps some sort of VIP escort mission or whatever.

The one game mode that got hints of being made was siege mode. Which would be amazing…

    Mine is:

95% Unstable animations, bugs and feints
4% due to my trolling (happens when I died enough out of bugs, feints and other weird shit)
1% Real working gameplay. These are the best deaths, one I learn something from
