New feint window encourages guessing game
-
Following Situation in a high level duel:
Player A misses a swing
Player B feints towards player A with the goal to bait a panic parry
Player A reads feint and combos with an attackNow, pre patch (replace panic parry with combo feint to parry), player B would be able to feint to parry the follow trough attack. But, with the new feint windows, feint to parry also got nerfed and its no longer possible to feint to parry the follow trough attack because the feint window is too small.
Player B cant feint to parry because late feint is not possible anymore
Player A and player B hit trade.All this encourages is hit trading and luck. Pre patch you could consistently punish combo feint to parry with feints, and if the feint didnt work you could still feint to parry. Now you cannot reliably counter panic parrys anymore without taking damage and guessing, so the best option is to go and straight up attack after a miss and win a duel with stamina. Exciting as fuck.
tldr; the moment you try to counter panic parrys with feints it becomes a huge guessing game. This shit is retarded.

How can you not feint to parry in this situation? Your reflexes have to be slow as molasses to not see his combo after you feint the first time.
Faster weapons have a weakness in being harder to FtP with (window is smaller).
Slower weapons have a better advantage when performing FtP (window is bigger).
I think that is a pretty good way to balance fast vs slow weapons.

Also… how is this any different than trying to counter combos against someone who could CFtP?

Because, apparently, you can’t FtP because of the no feint window so it ends up being a hit trade.
-
Maybe instead of doing a feint you miss with your first attack to bait the panic parry and follow up with a combo… Or you move in and wait for a panic parry and get around their sides. Or you could get better at doing attack-feint-parry if the guy keeps doing combos.
But you need to remember that this is another whole level of skill you probably didnt reach yet. So practice or get crushed.

My question was how does this make it more of a guessing game compared to pre-patch? His situation doesn’t emulate a hit trade, unless he was doing god awfully fast feints.

I see what you mean. The game post patch changed completely into a clunky, unmitigated disaster. That’s all I have to say.

To be more specific, this happens if player A has a short windup and attacks late enough that player B only realizes it within the last 0.2 seconds of his windup, but also early enough that it will finish before player B. Assuming a little over 0.2 second reaction time, that’s only possible with a 0.4 second windup or faster, and no combo windups are that fast, especially not for weapons that you want to avoid trading with. Also, player A can only combo at a set point in time, so player B could have just started his post-feint windup slightly later to allow more feintable time in case he needed to parry, or better yet, simply not do a post-feint attack until he sees whether player A is going to combo-attack, combo-parry, or go to recovery.
It’s more of an issue for similarly fast weapons starting from neutral, like a norse sword mirror match. Even in that case though, if you really want to avoid a hit trade you can just kick your opponent so he can’t attack at the same time as you.
-
The problem is that pre patch you could react to it if you had fast reflexes because the feint to parry window was longer. Now on some fast combos the feint to parry window is too small leaving you open to get hit = less overall control.
“you can also miss on purpose” no good player will fall for that.

That while new level of skill I think sin means is adaptation.
And missing purposely works better now as there’s not combo feint parry. So of someone does fall for it you combo into another attack and hit them. Provided you have a longer weapons and backpedal so they don’t hit you.

@CRUSHED:
Yeah, I was suprise he had the guts to say that to you myself.
-
What do you mean another whole level of skill i didnt reach yet? Care to enlighten me on this secret art of bottom scoring in scrims you are talking about? Stay small son you are nothing lol.
You owned him quite hard with that logic
not gonna lie even

@CRUSH3D:
oops, looks like you’re holding your team back
-
@CRUSH3D:
oops
Well its easy with a hacking archer carrying your weak melees, also he was still bottom scoring on winner team though, lol’d.

@CRUSH3D:
oops
What? You accomplished nothing with this irrelevant post.

Typical baddie who thinks K/D means everything in a team game.
You have no argument, and you resort to shit posting. Pathetic.

I suggest you press this button on the top corner of your screen. You are the biggest shit poster i’ve ever seen and have contributed nothing to this thread besides sucking Crushed’s dick.@CRUSHED:

NO GOOD PLAYER WILL FALL FOR THAT!!! Those are not the only solutions to your problem. I was simply giving you some ideas because you fail to adapt. INB4 @CRUSHED:
THERES NOTHING TO ADAPT TO.
Why don’t you go to your pro-mod and circle-jerk more with Jstorm and the rest of you shitposters. You bring no real arguments besides MUH CFTP and MUH K/D RATIO. I thought that was why you created the mod? To get away from the live version of the game. Is it not turning out the way you thought it would? Is that why you and your tryhards are constantly creating threads to further you garbage agenda because you know it will never be as popular as the vanilla version? Go back to your little pro-mod corner and stop complaining to change the live version of the game because of emotions. Get some real fucking arguments in here and stop resorting to shit posting when you are obviously losing a discussion. What are you 12? Keep your thoughts small son.

Why are you mad because i trashed you? lol
“fail to adapt” lol i guess you feel good now that the skill ceiling is lower

Obligatory

Dont expect anything else when one of your members of your trashcan clan comes into my thread and trys to say anything about my skill level lol
-
Welp. I was kinda hoping my post would get noticed before logic was thrown out the window.
