It’s time for some late night nostalgia boys (and girls)
Remember when we were all new to Chiv and it was just so much fun? Well here’s some pics I dug up of some shield walls that were a blast to do (why don’t we do these anymore :( )
You guys are welcome to post some nostalgic pics too!

Those tower shield knights didn’t stand a chance. Buff shields.

The first match was bad, when they switched sides it ended up 7 rounds to 6. I think the teamwork was just lacking that first game for the shield users.

Also the ping was 120+ for most players.

Why a shield wall if you can just run to the enemy and kill everyone?

ia. unbornassassin posted this on reddit. Was pretty recent. My favorite was the army of smokebombs lol.
I think this can still happen all the time, get a big group of friends together and say, “hey, lets all grab the same weapon.”
really needs to happen more as it’s a ton of fun always.

Got no pictures but I do have a story:
At the beginning, back at launch. There was a server called “Gods of the Arena,” but there was something weird about it. It had “duel” in the name, I was confused and so were a lot of other players that joined the server. Chivalry had a duel mode? Naturally we all figured out that the admin had some wild fantasy of a duel mode that was regulated by the players themselves, when in fact the actual game mode was last team standing. There was a lot of confusion and a lot of bickering. But at some point, we just started taunting at each other for fun, we kinda role played so to speak. The same players started popping up, and we were actually greeting each other. They were no longer just random players, they had names, names I could recognize and they recognized me. We sorta knew each other, and we became a tight knit bunch of players. One thing led to another and at some point we were doing duels, which were initiated by pressing “c,” no one could interfere, one dies, the other moves on. And it was just this eureka moment, it was utter brilliance. Right then and there, we created a working duel mode. I met some of the best and friendly players ever in that server. And some of those players still play today and whenever I mention Gods of the Arena we both start talking about that server like 2 war vets talking about the war. It’s actually become a nostalgic memory for me, that was the moment Chivalry changed from a fun multiplayer slasher to something much more beloved. Those were the glory days of the gods of the arena. I still love the game very much and I’ll play it for a long time to come.
At some point the Gods of the Arena server just vanished and everyone went their separate ways. At that point there were loads of so called “duel” servers, but they just weren’t the same, and they never will be. Or maybe that’s just nostalgia talking, I dunno. One thing I do know though is that I’ll never forget about it, it’s earned it’s place in my beloved-video-game-memory-collection, and It’s not going away anytime soon.
