Flail knight's buckler shield.. What did you do to it?

  • It doesn’t reliably block where you point it. It takes 3 hits to drain you of stamina (why would a small shield drain you this much?).

    Why the rape?

  • People wanted to see over it. Becuase people don’t know how to use it.

They changed the way it was held and now it sucks at blocking things.

Really It should be held like the archer and the MAA but with less stamina drain.

  • Why should the flail be paired with the buckler anyway? Why not just lock out the throwing axes when a flail is chosen and let the knight have a proper shield?

This is a very good question.

  • IIRC it has something to do with the buckler being the only shield with attack animations.

  • I wish they would give the flail a stab or another sort of attack, and let you use it without a shield.

  • ^they won’t. not because of stab, but because of parry.

  • Surely you could just use the same bash animation you’d use with the buckler with the other knight shields?

I mean, half the weapons in this game use the same animation despite what their speed is anyway.

People wanted the Buckler to have some advantage over the Heater Shield and because the Buckler is smaller being able to see more is the logical consequence - too bad that the Man at Arms and Archer Bucklers still use the same big frame - and a hotfix is still missing (patchnotes said they would use the small one too).

Every shield sucks at blocking things. They block vision and have the same hitbox as parry which makes aiming difficult and they drain stamina faster than feintspam. Especially the Buckler.
