Deadliest Warrior Official Announcement

  • Developer

NEW YORK, N.Y., August 26, 2013 – Six of history’s most ruthless and notorious warriors slash their way onto the battlefield of Torn Banner’s hit PC game, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare for a true battle royale in the new expansion pack, CHIVALRY: DEADLIEST WARRIOR, based on the Spike TV series, “Deadliest Warrior”

Fans will get their first glimpse of the expansion pack when it makes its public debut at PAX Prime in booth #3636, August 30 – September 2. The extensive demo will present in-depth game play with the first two announced warriors—the notorious Spartan and Samurai. Players can join the beta soon to experience combat of all five new warriors with a variety of new modes and lush new environments. The complete expansion pack will be unleashed this Fall for $14.99 on Steam. The base Chivalry game is available now for $24.99.

“We are very excited to expand upon the foundation of Chivalry and bring dynamic melee combat to all new eras. For us it is an opportunity to explore completely new warrior types, environments and weapons and add them to the already expansive Chivalry content while still supporting the base game,” says Steve Piggott, president of Torn Banner Studios. “The Deadliest Warrior show asks one core question – if the greatest warriors from throughout history fought it out, who would win? Now we are bringing that decision to gamers as they get to vote for their faction with the swing of their sword, determining once and for all who is deadliest!”

Dan Yang, General Manager of 345 Games adds: “We’re excited about pairing the unique concept of Deadliest Warrior with a game that offers such a rich combat experience. Our console games have provided fans of Deadliest Warrior with hugely entertaining single-player action in arena-based battles. This expansion pack allows us to inject the Deadliest Warrior conflict into an entirely new multi-player, multi-era world to create the only first-person slasher of its kind. We’re certain the resulting combat will be as intense as the warriors themselves.”

Already played by over a million gamers, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare is known for its exceptional first-person combat. The Deadliest Warrior expansion adds completely new game modes and content, allowing players to create any number of unique battle situations:

    Game Modes
Mixed Team Death Match: Mix and match warriors to create extraordinary teams and unique battle situations with up 64 players on the battlefield at once.
Faction Battle: Set up grudge matches between two warrior factions with only one warrior type per team. Players vote on the scenario for the next battle at the end of each match.
Warrior Duel: Select your warrior and challenge a single enemy to one-on-one combat in this comprehensive duel mode.
Free for All: Fight for your own glory in a free-for-all where warrior fends for themselves. No teams. No alliances. Full-on mayhem.
Custom Battles: Server side options allowing you to create custom battles with any number of teams and any number of factions or mixed teams allowed.

    Mode Customization
Multi-Team: Add more chaos to every game mode, with up 6 teams competing for victory in a single match.
Capture the Flag: Add this mini-game to modes to slash your way to victory while trying to steal the flag and plant it in the enemy’s base.
Elimination: Remove the ability to respawn, raising the stakes of each battle.

    Leaderboards and Stats
Track the best players in the online community and monitor personal stats, including number of kills, most successful warriors and most effective weapons. Compete for glory on the globally ranked leaderboards that reflect weekly and all-time stats and enable players to determine who is deadliest.

    Stunning New Environments
Go to battle in six all-new expansive environments. Each new map immerses you in surroundings authentic to each warrior’s origins.

Put every match-up to the test and determine once and for all, who is the deadliest warrior. CHIVALRY: DEADLIEST WARRIOR will be available this Fall for $14.99 on Steam and look out for the beta, coming soon. The base game is available now for $24.99.

  • Awesome news :D I can’t wait to give you my money.

  • So will the beta be open or do we have to sign up somewhere?

  • @Peculiar:

So will the beta be open or do we have to sign up somewhere?

Same question here, also can’t wait the multi-team mode interests me as well as the whole concept.

  • I am glad you can do faction versus faction, now that is cool.

The big question on my mind is how many classes and weapon loadouts will each faction have.

  • Developer

Each faction will have (or be) one class, but a multitude of iconic weapons to choose from.

I hope there are a few different loadouts/classes for each faction it would be fun.

  • @Tibberius:

Faction Battle : Set up grudge matches between two warrior factions with only one warrior type per team.

How can you have so great ideas and ruin them so much at the same time ?! Sounds fun, anyway. Let’s wait for the Beta.

  • No TO maps? v_v

  • Will the duel maps be larger to match the show’s combat simulation at the end where the warriors basically fight in a open world ish space?

As Steve posted above, each faction only has one class, so an example of this game mode would be all spartans vs all samurai, however each individual soldier could use whichever weapon that class has available to them.

  • Quite a reasonable price.
Elimination mode? If that"s like good old Last Man Standing from the Unreal Tournament era, you have just made my day.

Just remember to fortify the foundations of your original game. It needs some urgent fixes.

doesn’t the Deadliest Warrior page show 6 warriors? does that mean you only have 5 and are adding 1 later on? or that you’ve only decided to add 5 and not actually update your front page showing 6?

  • Can’t wait! I gotta say though, I’m more excited about the new game modes then anything else!

I am assuming one of them is the knight that they already have.

  • ELimination is Just Last team standing? and Mixed battle death match is just Team Death match, FFA is just FFA, These aren’t “new” game modes.

The only New game mode is the 6 team TDM, and the faction battle, but with chivalry mechanics, and rock-paper scissors stuff, a class vs class battle will be tremendously 1 sided.

Vanguards vs Knights, Vanguards win. So much fun. The whole point of chivarly is that every weapon / class has a counter. Archers beat vanguards, knights beat archers, Vanguards beat knights.

Team of Heavy x-bow vs team of Vanguards in Moore. That’s dumb.

No new TDM matches? Not really an expansion, but just another game built on the same engine with shitty branding.

64 player TDM is wishful thinking, the current game can barely do 32 player without the servers melting, and ghost swings everywhere.

  • Wow really? NO Team Objective. - This expansion looked silly in the first place, but no TO = no interest.

Why’d anyone want to pay for some TDM-spam’n’slash game? There’s nothing interesting about it, except the fact that we would get new weapons. My suggestion you scratch the idea of “Deadliest Warrior Hurr Durr” and give us Katanas and such in Chivalry, ontop of that create new, complex Team Objective maps.

Literally zero interest in a random mashup on a stand-alone expansion. You really want us to pay for a TDM / FFA game? That gets old really quick.

I have ZERO interest in having Katana’s and other oriental weapons in chivalry unless there’s a new faction or something.

Yes that is disappointing. TDM is the most boring mode ever unless you get rid of the respawn timer.

LTS is fine but will get dull quickly without a TO mode.

As I said before calling it an expansion is not accurate. Its more of a side game for Spike TV.

  • What about team objective maps?None of that?
