Poll: Combo-feint-to-Parry

    You don’t listen to top players like Height you sure as hell are gonna close your ears to the majority too

    He’s probably just gauging the percentage of people that will stop playing Live after SDK is released

  • Panic parry is totally backwards competitive design, and the game is considerably worse as long as it exists.

    When someone is using, say a Maul, and they take a swing at you, but misjudge the timing or just flat out miss, logically you should be rewarded with a free hit while they’re reeling in their incredibly long recovery animation, right? They should be punished for such a screwup, no? Apparently not, because panic parry allows them to mash right click and immediately parry out of their attack recovery no matter what. Panic parry removes whiff-punishing from the game entirely, basically removing all risk involved in missing attacks, and making skilled footwork pretty much useless.

    I don’t really see the problem with a system where you can feint into a parry out of the startup of the second swing of a combo, but you should NEVER be able to defend out of the recovery of a whiffed swing. Imagine you’re playing Street Fighter and you block your opponent’s heavy Shoryuken, but when you try to punish it he can for some reason block during the move’s recovery. It would be basically the same thing as the panic parry in this game. The game is just not that fun when I can make my opponent whiff a swing, but the mechanics fail to punish him for his mistake or reward me for my superior play. I have no idea what they were thinking with this.

    as long as it’s something that doesn’t make my gaming experience easier I’m all aboard

    Adding a higher stam drain to CFTP would have given plenty of incentive to not combo

    and calling out the Dev’s bullshit most definitely adds to any argument

    In actuality we were called in to balance JUST the weapons

    which is hilarious how TB thought they could balance anything by themselves considering they couldn’t even see the Double Axe was underpowered
