Freeze and crash since last patch.

  • Copied this from my post on Steam forums for more exposure.

I’ve actually had some problems since the new patch too. My system was running Chivalry perfectly before the last patch, and now on occasion it will freeze during a game. If I alt-tab or open task manager, UDK.exe is using about 1.5 GB of memory and when I close it, my entire Steam shuts down as well. I can then open Steam back up and resume play as normal, but it’s really annoying.

    My specs:

    Windows 7 Home x64
    i7 2600k OCed to 4 Ghz
    16 GB of DDR3 Ram, think it’s 1333 or 1600 for speed.
Galaxy Geforce GTX 670 OC edition.

This has happened three times and only when playing Chivalry. Here’s my event logs for each event.

I’ve also uploaded my DxDiag this time around, and Launch.logs from around the times of the events as well.

  • Developer

Are you opted into Steam’s beta? If so, what happens if you opt out? Have you been rejecting Steam updates or are you on the latest version of the client?

Edit: any .dmp files in the directory with the logs?

  • Sorry for late response, I was out all day. I’m not opted out of Steam’s beta but I usually accept updates as I receive them. There are some .dmp files but they are from months ago, back when the game would ‘crash’ whenever I exited the game. No dumps from the recent events.

My Steam About page says it was built on October 8th 2013, Steam API is v012, and Steam package versions are 1381282832 / 1381282832

  • i also have this since the recent patch, have to close udk through task manager and steam shuts down aswell…

  • Chivalry is somehow causing Steam to crash. Without Steam open, the game will not run so it just freezes. Chivalry itself doesn’t crash.
