What is this huge update that is taking forever to download?

  • Went to launch Chilvary a little while ago and it´s downloading some huge amount of data, because it will take 30 minutes to download even though its downloading at a speed at 1.7 mb/s

However, the Steam Update info says its only a patch that fix some minor issues like crosshair, workshop support for maps or something like that.

I don´t understand why it´s so much data for download for so few fixes and no new maps/graphics/sound.

  • This is because it downloads the entire game and not just the files that are changed.

  • Unreal engine is weird like that.

  • The actual update is 500 mbs. They decided to bundle everything Lemoneater has ever said with it.

They do that every update. This one they caught up on the backlog.

No it isn’t. This is the lamest excuse ever for a developer and it’s just parroted by the fan-boys here.
Just stop saying this because it is STUPID

Games that run U3 that don’t require you to download the entire fracking game again every time they add more hats:

    Batman Arkham Asylum
    Batman Arkham City
    Borderlands 1 & 2
    Dishonored
    Gears of War 1, 2, 3
    Mass Effect 1, 2, 3
    Red Orchestra 2
    Tribes Ascend
    Xeno Clash 2

For heaven’s sakes - Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock is better optimized than this.

    LOLs

  • Don’t own any of those other games but don’t lie. I do own one and that’s red orchestra 2. And yes its patches are massive just like chivalry. The last one they had was over 5GB.

You just got a list of unreal engine games and put them down not knowing whether or not the patches are huge.

  • I own them all. RO2’s regular content updates can be big. Those are CONTENT UPDATES. Most of their updates are small.

Just because Tom Banner doesn’t know how to push a proper patch, doesn’t make it the engine’s fault. They just don’t know how to do it. Is that so hard to accept, lemon?

In your own post, you said that you don’t know what you’re talking about so you assume no one else does either. That about sums up fan-boys.

Map sizes are all under 50MB. Weapons would be far smaller than that and a new game mode for rising storm that was from RO2 anyway became available.

That justifies RO2s 5GB patch how? And the rest of their patches are about 1GB just like chivalries patches.

SDK patch was actually larger than all the content patches this game has had.

Well, at least you spoke one sentence correctly. :D
