Chivalry: Medieval Warfare All graphics completely black



  • I noticed this the other day when I went to play the beta, figured it was just a beta problem since before the last beta I played and the graphics were fine. However, upon the arrival of the new patch today, the infamous completely blacked out graphics is live. So I assumed maybe it was an issue with my graphics settings(since I have everything off and on low for MAX FPS), I turn everything to high(my computer CAN run the game with max settings…) and my chivalry crashes, well now I cannot even get to the main menu before Chivalry is unresponsive and locks up beforehand.

    Please fix this quick guys, it’s a real bother, I love this game and wish to continue playing it every day, like always.

  • If setting chivalry to high caused the game t crash out for some reason, a good starting point would be to reset your configs … If you rename the config folder in my documents / my games / chivalry THEN reverify the game cache it should download a clean copy f the configs.

    also when a patch has just been released often the beta won’t work since there will be no current beta version

  • What you’re explaining was exactly what was happening with me. I guess the only real fix is going to have to be a hotfix patch.

  • I’m having this problem too but not on the beta. I can still see the interface but everything behind it is black. Once I choose my class i see a white dot in the middle of the screen and the chat on the left side. I can still here my guy slashing and stuff but can’t see a thing.



  • I am having the exact same problem and I am really relieved to see that others have it too. I tried changing SHSecondaryLighting and DirectionalLightmaps from False to True but when I started the game the black screen behind the text was still there. I’m rely confused and I’m not sure what else to try. Any ideas?
