Today's soaring flights of intellect of Chivalry's pub community

  • I don’t want to hold back this exquisite story which happened to me today on an official server.

So as I played peacefully on said server, a new player joined. With a ping of about 1000!
That alone is ridiculous that he tries to play with such a ping. I tried to convince him first to leave, he didn’t so I started kickvotes against him, telling in chat that he’s lagging because his ping is skyhigh.

    EVERY SINGLE VOTE FAILED!

End of story: After severel kickvotes initiated by me, he initiated one against me telling I’m a votekick spammer… it succeeded…

It appears that the chivalrous community likes to play with laggers, this story was not an exception, happens pretty often.

I should really leave the plebs at the official servers and try to have some more fun on clan servers…

  • Yeah, sad. pats you on back
These things happen, I hope my acknowledgement makes you feel better.

  • Majority rules. Turns out you were more annoying than the the player with 1-second ping.

  • Fake and gay, ping only goes to 988 visually.

Its a spike. Its impossible to have 1000 ping geographically. They were actually using more intelligence than you giving the guy a chance for his ping to go back down.

Also sometimes the game bugs saying you have 988 ping when you really don’t. Its a very rare bug.

Thank you, this means so much to me :highly_amused:

Seems so, though I would have stopped if they’d kicked him :courage:
Also I remained friendly all the time.

    I rounded, smart alec.

Same here, I rounded. It was all the time about 900 up to “988”, yes it sometimes peaked down… to 600…

    Not impossible.

So what does that make you a ned or an Andrew Mitchell fan. It was a good result for them go kick a conservative off the server
    tbh :)

Geographical distance + terribly crappy isp + high percentage of lost packets + downloading/uploading of porn going full throttle.

I remember when I used to play World of Warcraft and Blizzard servers went crazy for a day. I had never experienced 30,000 ping before. It was a horrifying existence.

  • Your route to a server is not a straight line and the data is not always traveling at the speed of light.

  • The other thing is you get the occasional clown who deliberately buggers their ping and then grabs the maul to try and mess things up for everyone.
Its a pretty conspicuous different between a newb with a terrible ping and a clown with a maul and ‘lag window’ which makes them invisible and their swings impossible to predict. These clowns are easy to deal with, but often catch you out in TO.

PS this sort of deranged vote-kicking doesn’t happen in the southern hemisphere :P . I’m so happy not to be stuck on northern hemisphere servers - per WoW……

Rofl, lag in WoW was like lag in no other game. I couldn’t tell what the fuck was going on at first, and after that it’s all blank. I still have nightmares.

  • I agree with the OP. As I have also seen the lunacy and ignorance of the vast majority of current noobs. Super high pings do effect the server because many of the Official servers are hosted on cheap overloaded servers. So when you get some asshat with 600+ ping joing the server will lag greatly, then mellow out some but it can also effect others with semi high ping making theirs increase all leading to massive server lag and hickups. This is very true for servers with 24 or greater player slots. The more the slots the more it will lag, plain and simple. It is always best to be way under 50 in ping. !20 is aboslute max for the rest of the players. What is really rough is the ping differential. What would normally be great having super low ping, isnt always an advantage if there is a 40 point difference in pings because player location is not really where the prediction says it is thus an additional increase of ghost swings and parry fails. Point being thogh is that this current batch of noobs are incredibly ignorant and simply assholes on how they handle their ignorance.

  • It’s a fucking joke on the Singapore servers. Thanks to the shitty server browser and lack of ping limits nothing ever changes, and I don’t expect TBS to ever fix any of these problems in the future. GG.

  • @dudeface:

    Not impossible.

    Concure.

Saw some d-bag with a consistent ping above 850+ at all times over 3-4 game. Got into with him. Turns out he was DLing a game on steam like a twat. As soon as he stopped (because we were about to kick him) it spiked back down to 89-100.

People that wittingly play with high ping are a freaking plague on anyone looking to enjoy themselves in the this game – veteran and casual alike.

  • @INerevar:

    EVERY SINGLE VOTE FAILED!

End of story: After severel kickvotes initiated by me, he initiated one against me telling I’m a votekick spammer… it succeeded…

Of course it did. Because the players did not want to kick him (for whatever reason) and you basically told them “Screw you and your votes - I don’t give a shit about your opinions. I want this guy kicked and I will annoy you with those votes until you bend to my will!”.

People don’t like to play with annoying self important guy who are determined to get others kicked. No saying you are - but you surely made that impression.

  • butbut. . . 120 ping is “fine”, because you can’t block the douche and yeah. . . it’s fine.
I should start playing on NA servers instead because my ping there is “fine”.

    Thats why I said “geographically”.
