Beta Patch 4 [10/11/2012]

    General Changes:

    General Art


    • New Halberd.
    • Better head explodie particles.
    • Peasants have hats.
    • Underwater post process effect on screen.
    • New king models.

    Battlegrounds


    • Fied market collision.

    Ruins


    • Fied various issues with collision/stuck spots.
    • Added various set dressing.

    Stoneshill


    • Collision fixes.
    • Ammo crate tweaks.

    Dark Forest


    • Fixed various issues with collision, floating meshes, stuck spots.
    • Commander Voice Over.
    • Nobles freak out.

    Training Grounds


    • Sound updates and voice overs added.
    • Tutorial no longer tells you to spam.
    • Safety added before messing with firepots from ammo box.
    • Scoreboard training added/updated.

    Battlegrounds


    • Scale of trebuchet particle trails tweaked.
    • Trebuchet rocks no longer cast shadows.

    Hillside


    • Fixed issue where HUD progress bar wouldn’t update.
    • Fixed hit and sink sounds on Mason Ships.
    • Trebuchet now have destruction sounds.
    • Fixed issue with trebuchets not being destroyed when joining late.
    • Fixed various stuck pots and floating meshes and overlapping decals.

    Sound


    • Agatha Knight Impact and Burning pain sounds.
    • Mason Knight Impact, Fire, Falling pain sounds.
    • New Agatha knight grunt sounds.
    • Removed all falling sounds.
    • Aadded in custom water sounds.
    • Added Agatha/Mason Victory/Fail sounds.
    • Slight increase to footstep and armor movement sounds when running or sprinting.
    • No more defending the farm.
    • Last objective manual VO added.

    User Interface


    • Vote Indicator on HUD.
    • Password Dialog has cancel button.
    • Manual VO menu re-organized to be accessed with only one hand.
    • Modified hit indicator to take up whole screen - made the direction more accurate.
    • Aligned stats text.
    • Made death indicator smaller.
    • FOV slider.
    • Class select text for class name and number of plays made white.

    Animation


    • Daggers given a new set of animations.

    Gameplay


    • Updated stamina damage (Min - 7, Max 35) to be more appropriate.
    • Overhead and stab do not engage sprint attack.
    • Points for objectives.
    • You don’t lose stamina if you get flinched during an attack.
    • You don’t lose stamina if you get parried.

    Bug Fixes


    • Fixed some typos in tutorial text.
    • Fixed issues with stat persistence across maps.
    • Fixed issue where server join error messages wouldn’t show up.
    • Fixed issue where Agatha Vanguard would sometimes look Mason.
    • Peasants are no longer able to be decap’d.
    • Fixed issue where low time sound wouldn’t stop properly.
    • Fixed bug where if you click something on the scoreboard your chat would break.
    • Fixed issue where stamina wouldn’t drain after a regular miss without combo.
    • Fixed bug where you would get stuck in place when you parry with shield in its windup.
    • Fix bug where some arrow types would penetrate shields.
    • Fixed bug where damage setring in kill indicator would be inaccurate.
    • Fixed potential issue with game not being able to be run on a single core processor.
    • Fixed weird acceleration issue with looking up/down.
    • Fixed objective points only showing one digit and digits overlap the word Objective.
    • Fixed issue where ammo box would tell everyone to Press E to use regardless of team.
    • Fixed issue where people without access to the kickstarter helmets would see it on teh screen.
    • Fixed grand mace weapon attachment.
    • Fixed issue with javelin shield disappearing.
    • Fixed potential issue where oil pot would last too long.
    • Fixed projectiles showing up in first-person and obscuring view.

    Miscellaneous


    • Removed unnecessary console commands.
    • Added credits.
    • Made VoteKick functionality more accessible and can kick people with weird names.
    • Added fists.
    • Added better security to prevent possible cheating.
    • Suiciding causes kill to be given to the last player who hit you in the past 10 seconds.
    • 1p/3p switch option added back into input configuration.
    • Kills set to 10 points, Assists set to 5 points.
    • Added in new localization files for all languages.
    • Levels for weapon unlocks set to 25/100.
    • Set maximum audio channels to be hard-coded at 256.
    • Added default system settings so people with really bad computers would get set to lower settings (MinCompressedDurationGame setting now automatically set).
    • KOTH set to 90 seconds in Arena, Hillside, Darkforest, Moor.
    • No more assist points in FFA.
    • Server performance improvements

    Balance:

    Longsword


    • Overhead windup increased to 0.65 from 0.55 seconds.

    Sword of War


    • Overhead windup increased to 0.6 seconds from 0.5 seconds.

    Messer


    • Overhead windup increased to 0.65 seconds from 0.6 seconds.

    Cudgel


    • Slash windup increased to 0.4 seconds from 0.35 seconds.
    • Overhead windup increased to 0.4 seconds from 0.325 seconds.
    • Slash release increase to 0.4 seconds from 0.35 seconds.
    • Overhead release increase to 0.4 seconds from 0.35 seconds.
    • Slash damage increased to 45 from 40.
    • OVerhead damage increased to 50 from 45.

    War Hammer


    • Slash release increase to 0.5 seconds from 0.45 seconds
    • Overhead release increase to 0.5 seconds from 0.45 seconds.

    Javelin/Short Spear/Heavy Javelin


    • Overhead windup increased to 0.65 seconds from 0.6 seconds
    • Overhead release increased to 0.55 seconds from 0.5 seconds.

    Longbow


    • Base Damage decreased from 80 to 75.

  • Sad face why did you nerf my overhead swing with my longsword :(

    I’m suprised you guys didn’t touch the halberd or falchion - at least a minor nerf to the warhammer.

    Balancing aside great patch, looking for it tomorrow.

    It was already those values.

    Also, please please please replace that horrific Shortbow model, it has been making me cringe for 2 years now, lol.

    Hopefully shields will no longer be forever-a-tank now too.

    Eh. We have some overlaps in some build logs sometimes because the rev we made the build on isn’t exactly what I recorded it as. OH well :P

  • Is there a possiblity to have the sound volume of the waterfall lowered on the map with the kings family? (I think it’s darkforest.) I can barely hear people in Teamspeak when I cross the bridge.

    How large is the FoV scale? I’d really love a FoV between 120-140 for Chivalry.

    Amazing, that’s really good news! - One more thing I have noticed quite often when I played some rounds yesterday, I got parried from behind several times when trying to stab. It happend about 10 times per match.
    I wonder if that’s actually on the “to-fix” list, I have talked ingame to a few players and they noticed the same, every now and then.

    I really like the patch notes, I love how we can see that the game changes and improves with each patch. Unlike big companies, your patches really make a difference and polish the game. cough BF3 Suppression Patch. “Spray and Pray” paradise. Love it!

  • Good thing the warhammer got nerfed. I was playing games were one player went through up to four opponents with that thing almost simultaneously.



  • But… reinforcements will not work without grain! And we are getting out of food!

    Anyway, some good fixes in this patch. Looking forward to testing it.

    Only left click causes sprint attack with vanguard. Otherwise just normal attacks. Makes it so he isn’t one dimensional.



  • why such a HUGE fps drop? i was getting 30-40 fps last patch, now only 9-15 :c

    8GB DDR 3 ram
    quad core 3.4 ghz

    when will ingame VoIP work?

    Only left click causes sprint attack with vanguard. Otherwise just normal attacks. Makes it so he isn’t one dimensional.

    Thanks for clearing that up. I was worried that you wouldn’t be allowed to sprint while doing overheads or stabs anymore. Thank goodness I was wrong. xD
