Chivalry Deadliest Warrior SDK? + Tutorials?

  • Hi,

Could somebody tell me when the SDK for Deadliest Warrior will be released?
Also is there any tutorials out there dedicated for Deadliest Warrior modding?
I’ve googled some, youtubed some, but the tiny bit I could find was about Medieval Warfare.

Also I would like to add that the documentation of Torn Banner is a bit shitty.
There is not much information, no step-by-step guides, nothing useful really. Could you maybe add more?

I’m really looking forward to make a MOD for Deadliest Warriors, I’m just having a hard time to get started.

    Thank you in advance.

    Sincerely Yours,

    Eli

Deadliest Warrior SDK is still in the works, but is very close. What were you looking for in the documentation exactly? I have uploaded example maps with notes and commented kismet detailing how to set up all game modes.

    http://forums.tornbanner.com/showthread.php/17993-Updated-SDK-example-maps-Now-with-more-Team-objective!

The Chivalry SDK is really just a modified UDK, so really any of the hundreds of UDK tutorials are applicable. The meat of what is new in our editor is covered in the documentation, and example maps I linked.

If you are just looking for step by step setting up a map, you can just take one of the example levels, and work right from it. If you wanted to make an LTS map for example, you could just save the example map as LTS-Your map name, duplicate spawns, and add your geometry.

Just a few resources I found:

  • Thank you Andrew for answering so quickly.

Editing a map is one thing. Yes I could take the example levels and just modify them.
But how about modifying characters, weapons, etc.
Is it also possible to add an additional HUD that shows info from an external server?
(for example: logging in from external server, showing user data, etc… for example tournament purposes)
(Or creating a story mode, which in case will need to take away the loadout HUD and use a custom one)

I mean, maps is just one thing, but the the whole modding for a special experience isn’t just another map if you ask me.
I’m sorry if I sound negative, but I really like this game. I think you guys made the best game in his genre. I just find it too bad that there is an sdk but with nothing of documentation to inform people like me.

I never worked with UDK, but i’m a pretty damm good programmer, I will surely get the hang of it.
I just need that little push in the right direction.

Making maps isn’t my big concern it’s mostly editing the way the user plays, taking away current loadout HUD and make a custom one for example. Making connection with external server, in game logging in,etc.

Any advice on that? Where can I find documentation for such things?

But I’m mostly interested in Deadliest warrior modding, so I guess all my question don’t really apply since it’s not out yet.
    Any release date announced?

    Humbly Yours.

    Eli

  • For Hud and Replacing weapon models, you need to delve into code mods. Unreal uses Unreal Script, which is Unreal’s object oriented coding. This isn’t too far removed for what another SDK would need for an involved mod.

    HUD:

    Weapons:

    Characters:

Chivalry SDK is essentially UDK with Chivalry Assets/Actors. Anything in the UDK documentation will work. There is a sizable amount of documentation for UDK.

I highly recommend UDN for the most in depth information:

DW SDK is going through the paces on QA, so no exact date, but sooner, rather than later.
