Custom Maps Missing Textures



  • So I have been uploading and testing custom maps on the |ĶiĻă| Thunderdome server. However, almost all of them seem to be missing one or several textures and I am wanting to know if every server is having this issue with the custom maps or if it is server side, client side, last patch issue. or a problem with the steam workshop. IS there an easy work around?

    This also happens when I load certain maps, my client goes to download it from the workshop then I get this error: Failed to find required package “map name” Cavehideout and City walls are doing this.



  • The most likely reason is because the maps aren’t finished yet. Quite a few of the maps we have have a few missing textures but that’s because its in alpha or beta even if the map maker hasn’t specified that anywhere.



  • Sorry but no… even finished maps like blue hour and others that are finished are missing the same textures.

    Blue hour has a missing floor/ceiling texture that’s been there for ever. Blue hour has a lot of other bugs as well other than just that.



  • There is a problem with the current SDK. Assets that used to have materials (textures) attached have now lost those materials. I have to manually fix houses in my map that used to look fine but have lost their roof textures. I think the same thing has happened to other maps.

    Something must have screwed up the assets in an update.



  • I am getting completely frustrated with this game and hosting. For starters the SDKfileid=number is completely different than the CMWSDKfile number and again is different than the actual map name…. Seriously how fucked up is this? you cannot tell what file is what map. I have been testing custom maps on our server that I have uploaded but have no idea which map is which. On top of this, Some people can load and play a map just fine and I get all kinds of errors even after Dling the map from the workshop saying that the server uses different files…

  • I can’t even play my map anymore, it used to work fine on the server but now it crashes the server when loaded. It even crashes the game if you open it locally but works fine in the PIE.



  • Yeah I am having problems with several maps that totally crash both the game and our server. Solice is one of them but it is a good map… The devs or the workshop need to get their shit together specially if there is a big map contest…
    ya think?

    Even worse is that some maps will wipe out the server to where it will delete the command line and not let me reset it or even restart the server…

    Noting which maps have issues would be helpful. Some assets might have disappeared in a patch months ago, but this should only affect the earliest custom maps.

  • That shit took me 3 days to test and compile loading one map at a time while the server crashed and the client crashed many times….
    The ones with missing textures seem to be missing the same textures. There are some stone textures, wood and others. Malrickmanor when testing, some people had missing textures while others did not. So I am assuming that the last patch screwed them up along with certain maps that previously ran fine as I played them before like Cave Hideout and Solice which now crashes the server.

    How is that for worthless posting?

    Thanks for testing and posting those. Hopefully TB can have a look and work out why maps that were working fine are now crashing the server. Even after they are rebuilt, re-cooked, and re-uploaded.

    Thanks man, if there are any clues to as to the problems with some maps that would help heaps.

    Posted about that in the other thread. The latest beta patch has a workaround that stops it from crashing, but the issue is a missing terrain rock material. Even with the workaround, the material is missing.

    Don’t know if any non-Z0b maps are affected.
