Mods broken with the newest patch?



  • I have trouble loading/playing my mod. So I just build the basic mod from the GiantSlayers tutorial with the reduced spawn times. Compiling and cooking does work without errors. I don’t have reduced spawn times though and showdebug doesn’t show me as GiantSlayersPawn but as normal AOCPawn.

    Any ideas?

    So all of these should match:

    • the mod script source directory (e.g., if you left the name “GiantSlayers”, Development/Src/GiantSlayers)
    • the mod .ini file (e.g. Development/Src/GiantSlayers/DefaultGiantSlayers.ini)
    • the mod name
    • the package name and everything else inside DefaultGiantSlayers.ini

    I’m assuming it all does? And you’re starting the mod by opening a map like
    open aoctd-moor_p?modname=giantslayers

    ?

    Helpful might be to post a log file from Documents\My Games\Chivalry Medieval Warfare\UDKGame\Logs, and your cooking/compiling logs, and maybe your DefaultGiantSlayers.ini

    You’ve got two GiantSlayers .cmwsdk files. If you’re subscribed to my GiantSlayers, unsubscribe from it, then delete the .cmwsdk file from C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\chivalrymedievalwarfare\UDKGame\CookedSDK__CMWSDKFiles

    I doubt that caused the issue considering that my version of it isn’t loading though. The other thing I see is related:

    If you have a .cmwsdk for your mod, it’ll override any plain cooked data. If you have a .cmwsdk file that’s out-of-date, could that be overriding your newly cooked data? You either have to generate a .cmwsdk file for your mod every time you cook (that is, do the “upload” step; if you don’t want to actually upload, just omit the preview picture), OR delete the .cmwsdk file.

    I’m going to try compiling/cooking a mod to just be sure nothing’s changed, but I think we tested this on this build already and it should be okay…



  • Thanks for taking a look. Yeah, there was your GiantSlayers mod from when I played it. Didn’t actually subscribe though. I cleared the complete CookedSDK and __CMWSDKFiles folders now, deleted everything in it. Rebuilt scripts, recooked twice. Same outcome, I am a AOCPawn and respawning takes more than 5 seconds.

    Unless I’ve missed something, I was able to reproduce this problem. Ergh. :\

    We are successfully hosting mod servers, so I’m assuming something broke with the client executable in particular and modding. Looking into it.

    It mostly gives me annoyed feelings. Sorry about this. We can likely clear this with a client-only patch. In the meantime the only workarounds I’ve tried that work:

    open aocffa-moor_p?modname=giantslayers?game=giantslayers.giantslayersffa
    ```(the mods are still able to load, it just appears that the mod config files are being ignored, so you have to set the game mode manually)
    
    Or use the dedicated server files to host it:
    
    udklogging.exe aocffa-moor_p?modname=giantslayers

  • if low respawns are what you want, MMM released a mod that does just that for you, all though now I thinks its back on page 3 of the workshop .

    its called MMM Low Respawn Mod and takes about 3 mins to install.
