Cannot launch Deadliest Warrior



  • At first I was having this problem with the launcher. I fixed this by setting ChivLauncher.exe to run in compatibility mode for XP Service Pack 3. I am now having the problem where the launcher now starts, but trying to play Deadliest Warrior locks the launcher in some sort of loop.

    The launcher disappears, steam tries to launch it again without my asking, the launcher then asks for UAC access to launch due to the compatibility mode and I’m stuck back at the launcher screen, where the same actions warrant the same loop. This happens every time I try to launch Deadliest Warrior.

    Medieval Warfare launches fine with no problems.

    Yes, I tried that before setting the launcher to compatibility mode, and just tried it again now. It finds no errors.

    EDIT: I have disabled UAC for compatibility with another program on my computer and now I am getting errors trying to load the launcher itself once again. Look at the image in the OP for a similar screenshot of the problem.



  • This is pretty much what is happening to me, everytime i click deadliest warrior the launcher just turns off and back on again, i have tried everything i can think of and nothing but chivalry medieval warfare works just fine.

    Redownloaded the game twice, still will not launch.



  • BUMP! Usually play DW everyday. Haven’t played for days. Been bitching on the forums every day too lol.

    I have verified my game cache, reinstalled everything, and sent my crash log. Still no results.

    Can you launch it direct from \Steam\SteamApps\common\chivalrymedievalwarfare\CDW\Binaries\Win32\cdw.exe (or win 64 if you have one of those perverse copies of 64 bit XP)

    Might be something dodgy in the roaming folder of the launcher, If the direct link works, let us know. We should be able to sort out launcher issues

    Both the 64-bit and the 32-bit links for deadliest warrior come up with ‘CDWLauncher.exe has stopped working’. If I go to \SteamApps\common\chivalrymedievalwarfare\Binaries\Win64 then Chivalry Medieval Warfare launches fine.
