The warrior you would add to Deadliest warrior.

  • If you were going to add a warrior from history to this game, what would be your pick? Give details and reasons why.

Mine is very baised and unconventional. But was one of the greatest warriors on the planet at the time

The Byzantine infantryman (or if not specailized enough the cataphract

They were the best trained and organized army at the time and had some of the best weapons and armor of the period.

With a sword that’s the bastard child of a gladius and a longsword, (sometimes curved with an edge on one side) called a Spathion, javelins, composite bows, a mace, (spear in case of cataphract calvery) and the weapon they are most famous for, Greek fire grenades, Usualy with a type of scale or chain mail and a round shield. I immagen it would play like a mix between a viking and a spartan. and its role would be the all round fighter. (like the samurai)

and if you include the Byzantines, you have to induce the Saracens But i dont wana post anything to long so i wont post his equipment

(I’m on a history kick right now and was looking up cool warriors)

  • I already made a post on that. Roman Legionaries.

Byzantinians were the bastard offspring of the Eastern Roman Empire. They were powerful at the time, because there was no one left of that power. The Spathion was a descendant of the Spatha, the Bows were originally Arcus with the same design/materials used. They were much weaker versions of Legionaries.

If you want to have actual unique warriors, you might want to bring in some Shang Dynasty infantry (and many of them were Women)

  • Roman legionairy.

  • The sarasens were the most powerful empire besides the byzantines. Besides you could argue the byzantines IS the eastern roman empire. most historians would say when the capital was shifted and the west was abandoned to the barbarians is when the byzantines start happend. besides they were far richer than the roman empire ever was due to their positioning. The cataphract was a name borrowed from other armored infantry but its easily a solider that was purely Byzantium and were powerful and quiet advanced to the roman calvery. And as for the legionnaires. their armor was a step back, but the tactics and warfare were not. Byzantines evolved a culter all their own. and tactics all their own with some things barrowed from the old Romans. . ANd the roman navy was nothing compared to what the Byzantines had. But i could agree legionnaires would be nice to see too

Like i said. arabian soilders would be pretty cool i think, too.

The Byzantium was not Rome. It was a trade empire. Rome was a militaristic Empire that the world had never seen. Byzantium never fought with extremely trained, disciplined, and effective fighters that utilized extensively drilled formations. They were Middle Easterners, nothing more, nothing less.

Comparing Rome to Byzantium is like comparing the Persian Empire to Iran. Very, very, very different.

    True enough friend.

But i was just pointing out The military wasnt as limpwristed as you impied. I wasnt trying to say they were the same, Simply that while i would agree overall they were not as poweful militarily, they were not weak by any means. They had well trained soilders with the best tactics of the world. But from the same token I don’t think you could say there was an eastern roman empire, and still somehow claim they were not the Byzantines.

I am also not saying roman legionares are not a better choice for another warrior, but i did want to say they could still be a contender, after all if vikings are a deadliest warrior, the Byzantines were on the same level as they were (for different reasons o obviouslu

  • Roman legionnaire as said before. Post cohort reforms, so they have better armor than spartan, gladius stabbing sword, two pilum, option for other roman weaponry. They really deserve to be in the game more that pirates and ninja (just thieves and spies/assassins).

Huns or Mongols, although without mounted combat, could also make an appearance as a foot archer class to replace pirate. They also deserve to be in the game.

Landsknecht. Mobile class with heavy weapons like zweihander, halberd (doesn’t belong with knight class) and pike

If we are gonna have modern area “warriors” with gunpowder weapons, might as well add Green Berets or something too :P

  • Persian Immortals

    Apaches

    Koa Warriors

Yes I think having automatic high powered rifles is a little silly considering you could kill 30 enemies in as many seconds.

  • Spetsnaz

    /10russians

  • I would add the pre-nerfed-into-shit pirate.

    http://forums.tornbanner.com/showthread.php/20202-Roman-Legionaire

As for Mongols, I would prefer a Shang Dynasty warrior/warrioress, as they pretty much invented the fighting styles of the later Mongols, and created very similar armor/weaponry, though with far superior techniques. Plus it would give Tornbanner an excuse to bring in a bunch of cute Asian girls to do voice acting auditions.

Yeah, no. Landsknecht already exists, it’s called Vanguard, they’re mobile with large weapons, and borderline broken. We don’t need any more large weapon-spammers, and a class with access to not only two handed large weapons AND superior ranged power to Pirate? My arse. I don’t want to see any more ‘Haliwhores’ with the Haliberd, I see too many of them with the Knight already.

    Alpha pirate.

    Bring him back.

  • I think the Aztec Jaguar would be a pretty cool addition to the game, as a kind of light skirmisher type. I think the range of weapons that would be available to include would be some of the most interesting stuff you could possibly have: maquahuitl (a 3-4’ wooden sword-like weapon, with sharp obsidian embedded in the edges), quauhololli (a short wooden club with a ball at the end), tepoztopilli (a wooden spear with a broad wooden head, again with sharp obsidian pieces on the edges), atlatl (a long device that use used to throw long spear-like darts), tematlatl (a sling) and tlacalhuazcuahuitl (a blowgun that uses poisoned darts - possibly low damage with a rum-like effect?).

I did think a Zulu warrior would be pretty cool, but I really don’t know if they used anything other than the assegai and iwisa.

  • Ancient Abyssinian warrior.

  • NAKED CELTS!

NO damage resistances, small shields, celtic weaponry mixed with stolen roman weaponry, thrown weapons include javelins and decapitated heads, customizable body paint, the little clothes they do wear is in a very fashionable plaid pattern, and they have the fastest running speed in the game.
