Shadows disapreading in editor
for some reason shadows have started playing up in the editor…
I have checked all shadow setting on light, mesh, object, material etc…. and they are all ok - in the linked image the spruce tree on the left has always cast a shadow - but now not. not even a dynamic one when i move it
any ideas welcome :-)
Those are the trees made of like 4 planes right? Those have never casted shadows for me. Also, dem pilates doe.
Nope they was the propper trees….
And… built today and the shadows are back… utter madness
:D UDK…. xD
I feel with you bro
they shadows just came back when i built it the next day!!!
HAHAHAHA! I was stumped on this one, seems like another random UDK bug :\
Ive been having random bugs like this with various. Ushes and rocks too. The meshes just look like lighting isnt built on them and no shadows cast on them. Havent found a fix yet other than literally replacing the meshes…
It randomly selecrs 0.354 of meshes each build and doesnt build lighting kn them….
But… perhaps more helpfullly… one of my fixes is to force delete all loghtmaps from each level… then rebuild.
Uuuurgh, such a pain hahahah. I’ve had worse problems with other engines though, Cryengine 3…released with 16bit floating point, Cryengine 2, 32bit floating point. I imported a Roman Colosseum model (with interior) into Cryengine 2, all looks great, put into Cryengine 3, everything is all skewed and vertices are merged due to the floating point values.
At the time, I had no idea, nor could find the reasoning for my mesh being messed up, I spend about 3 weeks trying to fix it before other people in the community had similar issues and a developer answered, lol.
Such is the nature of games engines.
