Bring back voice chat.

  • It needs some polish, of course, such as during team games you can only hear teammates and a better notifier when pushing to talk and a notifier of everyone that a specific person is talking, etc. I’d say look at CoD for a good example of voice done right. Mute should be easy as well.

Voice chat just adds so much more unique interaction to the community! I really want this back.

  • Mod

There did used to be a notifier however it was removed in an old patch.
I too would like to see some VoIP back in the game preferably with an option for team only or global based on distance e.g. You hear everyone around who’s nearby

  • haha yeah would be nice to have a good, functional voice chat… sometimes.

Then other times will just be like votekick - 100% PASSED
    reason: annoying

  • Mod

If it was bug free again I could see it being okay, I think some kinda way to strategize in pubs would be nice.

But with it gone, I don’t really mind.

  • Why would they ever remove something like the voice chat?

  • It never really worked properly.

  • Mod

In its most recent state it was also being abused. Without any notification of who was broadcasting, those hilarious troll types would broadcast porn movie audio/annoying music constantly to the servers. It was a pain to work out who it was and take action against them

  • @MonkeyFiend:

    broadcast porn movie audio

Why would you want to take action against them!?

  • @rumpelstiltskin:

Rumpel, it sullied my innocent virgin eyes. Er, ears.

  • What is sad is that voice chat bubbles that float over the heads of players have been around for decades in unreal tournament as well as just a simple colored overlays of the players names in the in game chat, also for decades……

But if you think the netcode and lag is bad now, wait till that get programmed…

AKA never, it is too easy to not do the hard work.

  • would be nice if they had like a dayz or rust kind of system of positional audio… plus an indicator of who is speaking. I think the positional type of audios is the best, have a direction and distance of where it’s coming from, would be so sick

  • I don’t really like the idea of distance-based voice communications in Chivalry. Are the maps really that big for it to be necessary? I think it should be like a modified CoD version, Teamchat in team games, global chat in Duel, FFA, and an option for global chat in team games.

Imagine in scrims, after the kendo you pick maps and side through voice, and hang out in moor chatting while some take bio breaks, “PAUSE” “NOT LIVE” in the middle of the scrim via global chat… ohhhh the glory

  • Yes, bring back voice chat.

Then the box for disabling voice chat would actually have a use.

Yes! This would be awesome. It’d be nice to be able to talk to the people fighting next to me.

that is why we have teamspeak

I’m sure TS is fine for talking to people that you know, but you usually don’t see an entire pub server on the same TS server.

  • I think they said at one point they wanted to make it not suck someday, I’m guessing it’s a low priority and I’m okay with that. Yeah it would be really awesome if it didn’t suck and had a little speaker icon showing who was talking, but there’s more important stuff right now.
