Zombie Hunter

  • Ok let’s take another shot at this, no necros this time. Brand new thread. Let’s get some favourite zombie games going. If you haven’t seen the trailer for Dead Island 2, it’s definitely worth a watch. It’s being co-developed so it will have all the perks of the first game and hopefully none of the flaws.
Killing Floor 2 isn’t exactly zombies, but it qualifies as a gorey monster shooter. None a whole lot of info on it yet, but a really cool trailer showing off some of the experiments you get to fight.
Half-life 2’s Ravenholm sequence is an old favourite as well, zombie infested town done right.
I haven’t playing the latest Dead Rising, any one know if it’s good? I liked 2 a lot.
I bought State of Decay on sale for $5 but it’s pretty poop.
That’s it for now I gotta go back to work, I’ve stretched my lunch too long already :p

  • RE4 was fantastic until I got good at it. Some sequences were so intense I had to take breaks from the game at times. Still hoping for someone to make RE4.2 with co-op and shit. Proper Co-op, unlike the shit RE6 had.
Still enjoy myself a good Mercenaries Round in RE5 and 6 from time to time, PC versions with No Mercy enabled. RE5 gets pretty intense with mods, and RE6 has some crazy fun controls.
Can’t go wrong with L4D2, just the right blend of casual co-op tone and engaging difficulty.
I think I played some PS3-game called Dead Nation once. Had a nice intro movie and I found the game cozy enough to play through once.
Speaking of Zombie games, Dying Light looks pretty kewl. Gameplay does look interesting enough from the trailer with dodges and shit, so I’m trying to stay positive.

  • Yes Dying Light seems to incorporate flawless parkour and very smooth movement with fast, satisfying gameplay. Almost a mix of Mirror’s edge and Dead Island, but it looks like it could be better than either of those games. It’s definitely on my radar. I only played RE4 up to the village part at the beginning, but I played RE5 all the way through. It was OK.
L4D 3 is going to be awesome, it’s being worked on right now. Know how I know it’ll be awesome? It’s a Valve game lol. There was a zombie expansion for Red Dead Redemption that has just enough content to merit a playthrough.
Never tried the Nazi Zombie Army spinoffs based off that Sniper game but they look kinda fun. I’ve been watching Hellraid for quite some time, and it’s looking promising. It went silent for a while but they’re back.
Also can’t go wrong with a bit of Painkiller now and then. Classic Quake action but with zombies and demons and a simple metal soundtrack.
Even zombiemod for CS:S and Condition Zero are still fun.

  • Where’s HL3?

  • Last time someone peeped into valve’s internal servers a few months ago, it showed a dev team of around 75ish people working on L4D3 and about 40-something people working on HL3. It’s coming, just very slowly. Also Mr. Gndo, git on topic or I’ll sick the mods on ya.

HL3 will likely have zombies in it, and please don’t vomit mods on me.

That was so good. Firing the saw blades and gas canister things at them was pure fun. Also the part where you meet the fast ones was really cool too.

I have to say though, my favourite ever is resident evil 1. I remember playing that in the dark late at night and it was really atmospheric; one of my favourite gaming memories. Not sure it’d stand up now, but a great game for the time, with actual puzzle (although still easy) and a survival feel as opposed to the later ones which were really just shooters.

  • Those old ones were way scarier man, def more atmosphere and I think it was the fact that there was a fixed camera and your player moved independantly of it, but something made them terrifying when I was younger. I think it was the second one where you start out at the burning truck? That was my favourite.

  • My favourite game includes zombies but is not centred around zombies:

    Magic the gathering.

  • good free to play zombie game

  • finally, Oy is no more!

my mighty quest has ended in victory. no longer must you play at this ruse people, we all know zombie games are old news from like 3 years ago.

Oy has been vanquished, you are free!

I know Unturned is in alpha and all, but there’s really nothing to do once you’ve played it for like 3 hours. Needs larger map, zomb respawns, etc etc etc. Other than that, it’s fun, and the mechanics are quite good.

  • its early access

meaning it can only improve from here

the mechanics seem solid so check back in 2 years and it will be a solid game if all goes well

  • That part in HL2 was pure gold, but I wished it was something more like this:

I mean, some Combines could add an extra challange and maybe more way to use the gravity gun.

Other than that, Resident Evil 1 to Code Vernonica were all great games for me. Not really a zombie game but fuck, Silent Hill 1, 2 and 3 were so good. Its a shame that such a good game has died.
    Dayz is interesting too imo

Yeah, that was the second one. It was awesome too, but I particularly like the claustrophobic feeling of being trapped in one place that came with the original. The last resi I played was 5, and I hated it. It was about as atmospheric as Ikea.

  • I tried playing The old RE games once, but they really seem like games you’d have to have played as a child to still enjoy.

Yeah, probably too frustrating to play now if not for nostalgic reasons.

  • Nemesis is still fun, for the sole fact you can legally cheat after you’ve beaten the game. (Merc missions definitely added to my replayability)

Quad Rocket Launcher 1 hits nemesis like the bitch he is, and I also bought the infinite ammo so he just sucks them down all game.
