Hacks

  • I’m use to the subtle hackers that actually try to look legit but recently all I see is blatant speed hackers ruining servers as they move and swing insanely fast.

    that’s because it’s funny

  • You can send the mods the steam profile URLs of those who are hacking via PM or through the Chivalry server admin group and we’ll take care of it from there. Bonus points if you send us a video of them hacking.

  • And you get a cookie if you manage to get a getplayerinfo shot in the video linking them to the crime.

    Oh wait…

Why they don’t allow this console command I don’t know…

when there’s another dev/mod meeting I’ll be bringing it up. The public getplayerinfo is disabled via a config setting, so unless there’s a good reason not to include it, I’ll be lobbying for it too :)

  • Please lobby for a Message of The Day too ;_;

  • Yeah put a few hours into the game for a few weeks its just sifting through lag and hackers

  • How are they hacking?

1000 hours and only seen 2 hackers and they were both +1 year ago.

  • I’ve only seen a couple of obvious hackers since launch, but there was this dude the other day who was very suspicious, but not sure if he was hacking or not.

He was one of those guys on official duel servers that thinks he’s better than he is, and only uses try hard weapons and complains or makes excuses EVERY time he loses. Anyway, he was calling me out because of my rank, so I beat him and he made some excuse about his cat jumping up or some nonsense. He wanted a rematch and I obliged. Both rounds he wasn’t doing so well, and just when he was 1 hittable a the end of both rounds, he suddenly had MASSIVE lag spikes where he’d appear behind me and combo me to death with desynced swings. I didn’t call him out on it because I didn’t want to be an excuse guy like him, but to add fuel to the fire of my suspicions, he didn’t brag about it, and bragging was very much his style. I’ve never hacked on a game (I don’t see the point), so I’m wondering if that sounds like a hack, or just conveniently timed lag spikes?

  • @Harry:

    snip

He might have been lag switching, where he turns on his gay porn torrents but usually that causes their ping to sky rocket as well (and usually works against the person in this game if the opponent knows just to keep attacking him). In the end, who cares. He sounded like a fuckwit anyway, you know you only lost because of his third world trash internet so who cares what some stupid noob thinks.

  • In other games I’ve come across people I fought several times and everytime I killed them more than twice; suddenly my internet would act up conveniently for them but its never happened in chivalry yet.

  • Lol some people are really paranoid about this huh?

Yeah, I don’t care, it just got me thinking about how easy it is to do and if it’s more common than I thought. I guess all you’d need to do is write a little script to flood your connection with packets at the push of a button and viola, has hax.

  • I have devised a better system that would cause parry’s not work at all, best left unsaid how it would work. From what I understand though, it is possible. Most likely not 100% reliable and would impact other aspects of the game, but if you switched it off/on you could minimize the disruption to your game and maximize the parry breaking potential.

Edit: Also it could be done one of two ways, a crude even less reliable method, and a more refined one, if you refine it enough then it would be 100% reliable. Not only that, it would be virtually undetectable by code. Human eye-witness would probably see dodgy shenanigans though.

Here’s one from ages back… I saw a speed hacker about a week ago on the singapore server but he was votekicked quick as.
