    Summary:**

    • Region: NA (Primarily North America)

    • Friendly Fire: 100%

    • Third Person: Disabled

    • Modifications: N/A

    • Class Balance: 50% rule

    • Duel: One vs One for side

    • Map Selection: Predetermined (map selection subject to change)

    • Projectiles: Allowed

    • Prize: Bragging rights (Potential prize pool if enough people donate, talk to Height)

    • Winning Conditions: Teams will play the map both attacking and defending. Most progress wins. If the progress is the same, then the team with the fastest completed objective time wins. If all else fails, Best 2 out of 3 5v5 LTS on Arena.

    • Spectators: Spectators are not allowed. The only people allowed in the server during a match are the players, refs, and streamers. It is the responsibility of the team to make sure they have no members of their roster or a merc in the server when it starts. If that person is AFK, please ask the ref to check and get rid of them. If a spectator is found to have been in the match, that team will forfeit that match.

    • Referees: To Be Decided. However if you want to be a referee just ask in the thread. Referees will not be allowed to referee their own matches. Decisions by Spook and HeightofAbsurdity will be final. However if you believe another referee made an incorrect call, come to either Spook or HeightofAbsurdity and it will be worked out. A referee must take a screenshot of the final score between the two teams and either give it to either HeightofAbsurdity or Spook or post it in this thread with the score and participating teams.

    • In-match Rules: Execute good sportsmanship. No trash-talking, trolling, whining, or complaining. Basically don’t be a jerk. You will get one warning. If you do any of these things again you will be banned from the server. If two players are ejected from the same team then that team automatically forfeits the match. In the event of a disconnect or lag spike, if the team can’t sort it out within 10 minutes they will forfeit the match.

    • Time & Date: September 13th-14th. If need be, any matches left will be played on the following weekend. The first match will start at 4:00PM EST September 13th. (This is subject to change if the starting time can’t accommodate many people). A schedule will be made available once the brackets are finalized. If there is an open server and the previous matches have ended early then the two teams can decide to play their match earlier by communicating this to the refs.

    • Roster & Roster Time Limit: Rosters and teams may be changed/added up to September 12th, 11:59PM PST. If you’re found to break this rule, please revert back to the old roster/team, or you will be DQ’d. The match will be played with five players. Each team will be allowed a single mercenary (a substitute not already on any rosters) per match in-case someone is unable to play. You may put as many players on your roster as you’d like. Substitutes are not allowed to play for any other team nor are they allowed to make their own team. In order to sub a new player in, post the substitution in chat. If you feel it necessary, please call for a pause from the ref to ensure the substitution goes smoothly.

    • **Who can sign up:**Open registration, anyone!

    • Disqualification (DQ): If your team does not show up within the 5 minute grace period after the match is scheduled, your team will forfeit that match.

The tournament directors are allowed to change the rules as they see fit.

    **
    Complete Rules:**
    1. Registration

    • Registration will take place on the forums. Post in this thread with your clan/team name, preferred server location & roster. Include a captain to serve as a liason between the tournament staff and your team.

    • Each clan can make as many teams as they please, though players can’t be in two or more teams at once. Different teams must be composed of different players. If this rule is broken, your team will be DQ’d unless changed before 11:59PM PST, September 4th.

    • The deadline for roster changes or new teams is September 12th, 11:59PM PST. If you try to change your roster after the deadline you will be given the chance to change your roster back to what it was originally. If you fail to revert your roster, your team will be removed from the tournament and taken off the brackets. If you try to enter a new team after the deadline, that team will not be entered into the tournament seed or bracket.

    • The match will be played with five players. Each team will be allowed substitutes in-case someone from their main lineup is unable to play. You may put as many players on your roster as you’d like (minimum 5). Substitutes are not allowed to play for any other team nor are they allowed to make their own team. In order to sub a new player in during the match, post the substitution in chat. If you feel it necessary, please call for a pause from the ref to ensure the substitution goes smoothly.

    2. Scheduling, Attendance and Score Reporting

    • A schedule will be posted once the brackets are finalized that will detail the times that teams will play and what server they will play on.

    • Each match must have at least one non-playing referee present. Otherwise the match does not count. The referee must take a screenshot of the final score and post it either in this thread (with score & teams involved) or submit it to a tournament director through some other method and have them confirm reception of it.

    • The matches will be played at the scheduled times. If the previous matches for the server have finished early and both teams are ready before the scheduled time, they can agree to talk to the ref and start the match early.

    • Teams are only allowed to play the players that are on that team’s roster and a maximum of one mercenary (a substitute who is not on any roster for any team in the tournament) per match. Mercenaries, once employed, may only play for one team throughout the tournament. If a team attempts to field a roster that doesn’t meet these requirements, then they will immediately forfeit the match and either be sent to the Loser’s Bracket or DQ’d based on their position in the bracket. If both teams try to break the rule, a double forfeit will be delivered.

    • Each team will be advised to make the check-in time scheduled 10 minutes before the match takes place. If a team is not ready within the 5 minute grace period of when the match is scheduled to take place, the other team will be given the option to wait up to 5 more minutes for the other team to be ready or call for the forfeiture of the match from the team that is not ready. If the ready team chooses to wait but after five minutes the non-ready team is still not ready,

    • The brackets and seeding will be determined by myself. I will record myself entering the teams and participants into Challonge. I will scramble the seeds 10 times and then allow Challonge to generate the bracket. The seeding will be recorded, uploaded to Youtube and posted in this thread. The entire process will be recorded in one take without any editing.

    3. Server

    • Server location will be decided by the preferred location set during registration, and the number of players from each region.

    • All matches will be played on either Tempest - Competitive (US EAST, New York), Tempest - Duels (US CENTRAL, Chicago), Legion (US SOUTH, DALLAS) unless both parties mutually agree upon a different server and/or location

    • The admin password for each server will be changed and given to the ref for the duration of the match.

    • Each server will have to have all settings specified by the rules in place.

    • A team may, at any point before or between matches, opt to change to a tournament provided server or, if also agreed upon by the other team, another server that satisfies all the conditions above.

    • A referee must verify that all game settings for that server are in keeping with the tournament’s game settings.

    4. Connection Issues

    • If a team suffers connection issues they will be allowed to use pause time (see Section 9: Timeouts) to sort the problem out.

    • If a player has a ping above 120 before the match begins, then the map will be changed to the map that will be played on and the teams will be asked to go to the middle and fight the other team, focusing on the player with a ping of 120 or greater. If the team agrees that it is playable, then that player can play so long as their ping doesn’t consistently spike or the refs notice multiple desyncs and instances of lag.

    • If a person(s) has a lag spike or desync, that player will be issued a warning. After two warnings, the third violation will result in that player being ejected from the game.

    5. Settings

    • Third person is disabled and not allowed.

    • Friendly Fire will be set to 100%

    • Tournament Mode Enabled

    6. Maps

    • The maps will be predetermined. You will be able to view them on the schedule. The following maps will be played (subject to change)

      • Stoneshill
      • Darkforest

    7. Class Balance

    • 50% Rule: No more than half of a team’s composition can be the same class.

    8. Spectators

    • Spectators are not allowed.

    9. Timeouts

    • Each team will be allowed 10 minutes of pause time over the course of the entire match starting when both teams have readied up. If the pause exceeds 10 minutes or the player(s) is/are still unable to play, the next matches will be played.

    10. Format and Winning Conditions

    • Each team will play the predetermined map twice, once defending and once attacking. The team that progresses farther on offense or, if equal progress is made, the team that completed the objectives in a faster time wins. If the match is rendered too close to call by any of the officiating refs, then the match will be decided by tiebreaker: best 2 out of 3 rounds of LTS on Arena. If the Grand Finals go into a tiebreaker, then the teams will play until one team has won 2 more rounds than the opponent.

    11. Tournament Progression System

    • This tournament will be double elimination.
    • The seeds will be scrambled 10 times and the brackets will be randomly generated by Challonge.
    • The Grand Finals will be played best out of 3 sets, with a one set advantage going to the Winners Bracket Champion.

    12. Cheating

    • Any individual caught hacking/cheating (this includes ghosting) will have their entire team expelled from the tournament.
    • Any individual caught map glitching or exploiting will be either penalized or warned based on their actions.

Disclaimer: It is the right of the tournament directors to change any rules as they see fit until the start of the tournament. Because we cannot predict what will happen during the tournament, if a situation arises that conflicts with the best interest of the players, the tournament director may make calls/decisions that conflict with the rules stated above.

  • “Each team will be allowed a single substitute in-case someone from their main lineup is unable to play”

Does this mean we only get one sub per game? If so that can be rough with IRL stuff and possible connection issues.

  • y u no EU ?

Thanks for pointing that out, changed it so that you can sub as many people as you’d like as long as they aren’t playing for any other teams or forming their own.

    @Monsteri:

    y u no EU ?

Tempest is gonna have some EU players, it’s just not ideal because not all of the matches are going to be played on a US EAST server.

  • I shall Stream and Ref this here tournament. I do not care what Height or spook say. Even though I love both of them with all my flotch

  • we need digital for ref

  • 12.Cheating

What constitutes as an exploit, please list them alll.

  • @zombojoe:

    we need digital for ref

Probably able to stream/cast. Willing to help out in any way.

  • aimbotting obviously

i dont think your mouse macros would count tho so you should be fine

  • Mod

Exploits like superjump, the shield feint glitch, getting rid of the smoke effect, etc. Mainly the obvious stuff.

  • what about dodging out of flinch and attacking right after?

  • Mod

    @rumpelstiltskin:

what about dodging out of flinch and attacking right after?

Not really as obvious and easy for a ref to miss since they’ve already got a lot to watch out for. I’m against it since it’s clearly an exploit but it’s just too much effort to enforce.

  • seems reasonable enough

but what if people abuse it consistently?

If the refs notice it happening they’ll warn the offending MAA, and if he gets caught doing it again he’ll be forced to sub out for the remainder of that match.

  • This post is deleted!

    seems reasonable

i know in a lot of scrims people do it a ton

its gotten to the point where i just stab where they are going to dodge out of flinch because they crutch on it so hard lol

Well luckily there are some MAA’s who have to rely on it, so I’m confident the offenders will be caught if they try to weasel it in.

    Myaaaaaaaaaah.

  • @parkrangerstan:

How dare you! Mystikkal would never!

Please don’t derail the thread with pathetic drama. Thanks.

  • Nice to see LG back and hosting tourneys. I look forward to watching the stream.
