    Sadly, I’m not a phony. It’s recorded on 24p or 32p DE or UK servers. I’m from Germany and I have enough witnesses who’d tell you that it’s not a highping video (because they’re in the video).
    When you stop at 0:41 or 0:50 you can actually see the scoreboard (Also 2:03 in Part I). Maybe if I do Part III I could insert more scoreboards as a proof.

    also half of these were straight up misses or just looking out of range because of that fov or you “hitting” them when you are in windup then missing when in release

    also arrows going trough you is just a visual clientside problem, they dont actually fly through you

    the only real inconsistencies this game has are kicks & charge attacks

    Servers might be lagging around, that’s true, you can’t see that in people’s pings. Especially NL Servers always seem to have some problems, that’s why I only play on UK and DE servers.

    Maybe, but if I can clearly see the swordtip with 140 fov in front of me, I’ll see it also with 120 fov in front of me. Because fov is transforming and not translating objects. Again, lag might also be involved.

    I know, it’s the same when an arrow misses you by 3m and hits you. I took it nevertheless into the video, sry. :p

    It’s ok to question everything. I checked the videos at super slowmo again. Some go through but like close to hitting nothing. Some even hit nothing (especially the warhammer stairs scene), but that’s because the bubble prevented me from getting any closer. Maybe those are the reasons of your doubts.

    Another cause of some scenes may be too much swing acceleration.

  • Yeah, charge attacks and kicks are a mess. Stairs and inclines in general are fucked up beyond belief (one of the main reasons I despise Belmez which is 60% inclines)

    In the vid there are some clear hits that miss the enemy, but I do agree that most of them are lag/netcode/crappy sv related. If you were to play in a LAN or 2hs vs bots you wouldn’t find as many inconsistencies as in the video.

    At any rate, Chivalry is a multiplayer game so they should still be considered inconsistencies. LAN ping and tick 128 is not feasable for all servers.

    Have you ever been hit when the enemy was not visibly in range? or ever landed a kick only to find the other guy teleported a few extra feet away from you? Also happens when you get kicked: you were looking that way and at x position, you get kicked and boom, you end up looking in some other direction and thrown much farther you should’ve been.

    I think that discrepancy in player position/orientation is what causes lots of missed attacks and parries… and all thanks to client-side hit side detection… and parry detection is on the attacker side only iirc… whose bright idea was that =/

    I’d like to repost these pics which are always a joy to watch. They remind me I spent too much time convinced this game was transparent when it came to skill.

    (I probably should’ve looked slightly higher to be 100% it was a parry, but it still looks fucked up)



  • Does anyone now how to record your mouse/keyboard input ingame? I found some programs which show that, but DxTory will only record the game and nothing else.

    Some of the parries at the start are not that weird, he just didn’t turn enough for them. The rest looks like what usually happens during a normal game, fun stuff.
