Game keeps crashing upon startup…. :/



  • Basically, this takes me back a long time ago; I couldn’t receive servers for about a year, I was searching and searching for solutions, finally I think it was something to do with the firewall, I think I fixed it, but when I “think” I did, another issue came up… The game keeps crashing upon start up. I tried disabling the logo, I did like I think about 10 or so solutions, I’ve been looking profusely for so long but to of no avail. This is my log file:

  • I had this exact same problem happen to me yesterday. For no apparent reason whatsoever, Chivalry just crashed after the splash screens upon launching (every single time I tried). The simple process that remedied the issue for me was as follows:

    1. Verify integrity of game cache for Chivalry (Right-click>Choose properties>Select “Local Files” tab> Choose “Verify Integrity of Game Cache”.
    2. Reboot your system.

    This simple fix worked for me.

  • I’m getting constant crashes as well, all of a sudden.

  • Yea, I played through the entire tutorial/training quests fine, just to test it. But as soon as I load up Server Browser, or if I get to join a server, it crashes, on either MotD, or just randomly… and now it won’t even let me load single player before it bites the dust.



  • I crash as the menu loads, if I get past that I don’t really crash. Unless I leave a game and have to reload the menu.

    1. Triple check firewall settings (just disable it temporarily and try playing)
    2. Tried 32 and 64 bit modes
    3. Ran the .exe updates in… L:\Steam\SteamApps\common\chivalrymedievalwarfare_CommonRedist\vcredist
    4. Ran the DXSETUP.exe in… Steam\SteamApps\common\chivalrymedievalwarfare_Co mmonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010
    5. Tried re-installing the whole game



  • Just go into your steam folder, then steamapps, then common, then Chivalrymedievalwarfare, then launch the game through the folder and it should work. Then it should work on steam too.



  • I finally found a fix for me! I’m running UDK.exe instead of CMW.exe… only 32bit mode working, but at least I can play again :D

    Neither 32 or 64 bit cmw.exe work for me any more :( Also already re-installed all redistributables, .NET, the game itself twice.



  • while my internet was down I was trying to run CMW.exe direct from the binary folder and it crashed every time as soon as the intro movies were done (beta cmw.exe worked fine tho). haven’t had any issues via Steam besides the usual server browser/load out/citadel crashes.
