Maplist resets



  • Hi,

    I have a weird problem with my SimRai server:

    the maplist entries reset once in a while (possibly when server crashes?) and it looks like this after a few weeks:

    Initially only this was set:
    MapList=TO2-Horde_Sandcastle_p

    So I don’t want a mapcicle at all and only this single map repeating itself.

    Any ideas how to prevent these additional maplist entries from appearing?

    The server log file is empty.



  • delete all those maps in the UDKGame.ini and if you only want one map to cycle then try adding 3 or more of the same map. Also if you have the ability to write protect that file then do that but most hosting companies do not allow you to make that level of changes to files.

  • Thank u for the reply. I will add several maplist entries for the sandcastle map to the PCServer-UDKGame.ini.

    But I don’t see any UDKGame.ini in UDKGame > Config. Do you mean the PCServer-UDKGame.ini or the BaseGame.ini or the DefaultGameUDK.ini?

    I suppose I can safely delete this?

    Edit:
    I did not make any changes yet but I noticed when I opened the PCServer-UDKGame.ini that it only contains ‘MapListIndex=0’ and no maplist entries anymore for any map. So it got deleted somehow.



  • Judging from the file scructure I’d say the Default- <filename>files aren’t actually being used until the server resets/requires the standard settings or whatever. They might not even be used at all, solely there as an example for users.

    The only thing you can do is download the custom map again, apply Retsnom’s maplist suggestion and either pray it decides to work all of a sudden or wait for a crash. Which log file are you checking?

    That said, Chivalry’s servers simply do tend to crash in a while especially with the use of custom maps. You can only do so much.</filename>



  • I’m not able to set the config file to read only.
    The only logfiles I found which contain some data were in Binaries > Win32 > logs. There is a connection_log.txt, content_log.txt and stats_log.txt. Found nothing too suspicious.

    I consulted other server owners running exclusively the sandcastle map. They had this issue as well before disabling the mapvote and restartvote. I’ll set these as well (once the server is more empty) for [AOC.AOCGame]:

    However, local tests with a dedicated server failed to reproduce the issue.
