How about some indicator

  • if a player is currently in 1st or 3rd person mode? Something like the new Agatha or Mason “tags”.

Playing against 3rd person view is an entirely different game than against 1st, would be nice to know.

  • There IS an indicator. Parry animations are different between first and third person.

What? There’s a 3rd person animation set and a 1st person animation set. You only ever see your own first person animations when you’re in first person. On every other player you see 3rd person animations. Regardless of what perspective they are in. That’s just it. There were mods that swapped the 3rd person and first person animations around. 3rd person animation sorta worked in 1st person but they didn’t work at all in 3rd person lol.

People who play in 3rd person generally look down when they play. Curved backs. 1st person players are usually completely upright. Or even leaning back slightly.

  • Fighting against a 3rd or 1st person player is not like an entirely different game.

I would venture to say that playing in 3rd or 1st is closer to being an entirely different game than fighting it.

Not sure what perspective you prefer but if you’re a 1st person enthusiast you could fill out an application for the comp club and the nurse will call you in when your time is ready. There are several servers with 3rd person disabled.

Most also have 100% team damage enabled as well.

    Becuase logic.

It is or you’ve never encountered any of the 3rd person specialists who play a style that is nothing like what you can do in 1st person.

  • The biggest clue to knowing if someone is playing in 3rd person is that they are sniffing the ground a lot

Yeah, 3rd person players are a lot worse at accurately parrying and getting around parries, they’re so much easier to beat.

3rd person gets you killed by good 1st person players. There’s so much more you can do in 1st that simply isn’t possible in 3rd.

If you’re talking about average 3rd person regular FOV noob who plays 3rd person the same or almost the same way as 1st person is played, then maybe, but there’s a bunch of 3rd person players in EU which play a very specific playstyle with long weapons that has a lot of advantages it shouldn’t have:

    • always running away and swerving - harder to hit (plus smaller target - groundsniffing). Can stay at range, exit the range when you attack with faster forward movement (when 1st person can only backpedal), queue another attack, turnaround, hit you or at least force cftp
    • insta ROHs and backswings without telegraphing them with body movement
    • ROH and backwing feints
    • missed ROH to OH drag easy af
    • turnaround feints - try to consistently read OHs when opponent is looking down all the time and already half into the windup when you first see the attack
    • easier to keep the distance with forward speed, basically you have to chase them most of the time when they’re still probably baiting you to walk on the backswing
    • easier target switching - can see everybody around at all times
    • can parry strikes from the back with looking up and crouching

Beat me to it. They hunch forward a hell of a lot more and fail to parry most stabs.

It’s easier to parry in third than in first though (considering people can’t hide attacks).

This is just straight up wrong. Play against players like skyfall and then tell me how 3rd person makes it hard to parry and read feints, while giving only minor advantages such as complete spatial awareness, risk-free and perfectly accurate backswings, and easy sprint footwork since you don’t have to be facing your opponent to see them

Skyfall should f10 and then jump off a castle tbh

Well to be fair Skyfall is most certainly the best third person player there is, can’t really compare anyone else playing third to him. Although I agree with your point 100%.

  • I think this “in 3rd person you can’t parry” myth is spread by 1st person players who tried 3rd person for 15 minutes and struggled to parry, because well, they’re 1st person players. I don’t really see full time 3rd p players having any noticeable problems with parrying.

  • Jump stabs. 3rd person players struggle more against them.

  • @lemonater47:

I don’t think any real players have struggled with jump stabs since 2013

He’s talking about Aussie players though.

  • Or 3rd person FFA Zwei scrubs.

  • I do not particulaly like 3rd person players, but it is true that skyfall is in another league, Jetstream has a video of him somewhere if you australian godtier player want to check.
