FOV and 3rd Person Tryhards.

  • @CRUSHED:

Gambles have always been one of the easiest things to deal with for me, while well timed hit trades are almost impossible to deal with in certain situations. I’m not even talking about pubs, trades and spam in pubs are easy to deal with - however, you can force trades with weapons such as sow in such consistent and cheesy ways that any low hp vanguard is basically a free kill, no matter who he is.

FHF makes 1vN’s way more consistent, you constantly see good players on mercs win engagements where they are outnumbered, you can play well and as result not get hit and make “clean” kills and the same goes for teamfights.

There are still trades plaguing mercs such as unflinchable ripostes - once those are gone though ripostes would need compensation to stay effective such as active parry during riposte.

There is a reason why mercs was made, and its not because of trades on pubs or anything like that. It’s because trades in high level play can get to extreme levels of cheesy gameplay coupled with reverses.

I think trades suck at all levels of gameplay, no matter how low or high you go. I don’t think the gameplay divide between vanilla and mercs should be this large anymore when possibly the sole most important feature in mercs is THAT much of an improvement. I think FHF works better in vanilla pubs, duels, anywhere, not just high level play and high level format play.

Crap design can be frustrating for the most knowledgeable players and be just as frustrating for the very inexperienced ones. Trades are right here. They’re awful for everyone, at all times, at all levels. I rarely see people have issues with FHF after playing mercs for a bit, and I think the playerbase at large would come to accept it as a good change if TBS would just like, give it a shot again.

  • This post is deleted!

  • Heared daggers got ruined in mercs

    Thinks for a moment
Why the fuck would u use a dagger over a sabre or a short sword. Even a cudgel!?

I think they’re also one of the reasons for the poor player retention. As we could see during sale, what most new players do is trade everything at all times, they engage you in a staring contest waiting for you to start an attack and they will trade every time until one of you is dead.

When I was a noob I knew I wanted to stay for longer as I love medieval stuff and I watched a lot of videos so I had an idea how this game works at some decent level. If I didn’t, after a couple of hours mindlessly trading and being traded I would think this is most of this game has to offer, get bored and move on to something else.

  • Mod

Yeah, yeah Baron’s right. This game is awesome!

  • It’s a nice meme, but i don’t gamble backswings - that’s the entire part of my playstyle in 1v1s is no gambling

If you’re struggling with gamblers then no flinch in release is not the solution. Punkhest puts out the same ridiculous arguement that “Hurr he gambled my attack and i got flinched, so i should just trade him durr”. Dealing with gamblers is a L2P issue, not for the mod to fix

All lvl60 pubbers seem to want to be able to trade, i still don’t get it

Aswell, adding FHF into vanilla is not the right solution either. Mercs is balanced around FHF, vanilla is not. Currently in vanilla if you are using a norse sword are hit by, say a messer, you can actually gamble into his combo and trade with an LMB to finish him off. These kind of cheesy manuevers are still prevalent in vanilla, and if FHF was to be added to the game then spamming with the faster weapons would simply be a new form of cancer

All i can suggest is that TB add mercs instead of vanilla; but in terms of balancing, TB should never touch or make any kind of balance changes by themselves for CM:W ever again. Their past record didn’t go to well for them, and the new kick update is just another example of how TB simply just don’t understand this game - i wouldn’t be asking them for balance changes if i were you, lest they destroy what we love

  • I went to the last post and somehow this FOV 3rd person Tryhard post turned into trading and gambling so I’ll comment on your original issue.

Personally I’ve never had a problem with high FOV’s or 3rd person users. My FOV is 111 and has been 2,000+ hours, if people want to see through a fish bowl then go for it but it does not effect me as a player at all. I’m aware of my surroundings and I don’t need to put distance on my screen to see more. Encountering a variety of different players using all types of settings has made me a better player and you learn to plan out your attacks ahead of time or in the moment if you know he is in 3rd and can see behind him, feint. I am after all the Messer King, the Sultan of Gambles, Count of Casino.

  • It does affect you because they are at an enormous advantage over you.

Being able to see more does not translate into advantage. They may be able to see but you may be a better player. It’s a disadvantage to me. That’s just me :)

It’s a good point if you’re talking about a 1v1, when it’s team game though, higher fov undoubtedly gives advantages as you can’t constantly check your surroundings when you’re engaging a guy, and there’s others who might targetswitch on you when you’re not aware.

No I meant Team Objective maps. This was just my opinion, I do just fine.

  • How about you create these “special” servers for these people so they can all backpeddle together have these great battles they wish for. Maybe they can after all these years just be quiet and compete amongst themselves. Maybe add the “special” mod mercs for them aswell so they can be really special and why not while you are at it create a server where feints is disabled so these people also get a “special” server. Instead of just adapting to the game as it is, this sure sounds like a better idea.
It’s funny because you play all these mods and all these special servers and then when you enter a normal server in which the game has Always been the same more or less and you can’t do all the things you learnt on these special servers and then you become sad and hafto ventilate on the forums. I’m sick of seing you typing this nonsense now for years, and then you have actual admins that feels the same way. Well here is the solution. There is a couple of 1st person servers. Play there, don’t enter the normal servers and get mad and start spewing negative crap.

  • Ism’t 90 fov much less realistic than 150 fov though. I mean, just because it looks weird (at first) on a 1080p monitor doesn’t mean it isn’t realistic. Infact, if you look at it from a real life pov, it’s much more realistic. You can actually see around you like your eyes do in real life.

I agree about third person though. That is literally cancer.
