Mouse 4 & 5 not recognized

For some reason, the game always thinks that the two thumb buttons on my mouse are “enter” and “mouse 1” instead of mouse 4 & 5. Even when I set the thumb buttons to a key-bind such as page up and down, the game will ignore this and do the same as before.
Anything that may be causing this?

Have you made sure your mouse drivers are fully updated?
