Recording Chivalry using OBS?
-
I use OBS to record for my youtube channel, ToothNClaw Gaming. Unfortunately, as much as I love Chivalry, my recording software, OBS, just flat refuses to record it. No matter what I do, I get a black freakin’ screen. I hear the gameplay, I hear myself, but I have a black screen the entire time. And I can’t figure out why!
Anyone else here use OBS to record and have a fix for this? It works for the other games I record, only Chivalry gives me a problem :/

@LoneSilverWolf you may have to add the Source for Monitor Capture.

Not sure how to do that, but I’ll look for the setting for that, thanks :D

If you have a nvidia card use shadow play.

@BandOfTheHawk Yeah I am using Nvidia, the GTX 860. I’ll have to look up what shadow lay is, I’ve heard of it, but now nothing about it :p

@LoneSilverWolf ShadowPlay is built into GeForce Experience, which you probably already use to update your Nvidia drivers.
We’ve had some players report framerate issues when trying to run recording software like Fraps or Rptr, so Shadowplay may be your best bet. I find it’s more user-friendly than OBS.

Shadow play works great with Chivalry, just make sure you configure it properly. I believe you can stream with it too as well as auto upload to youtube which is pretty nice.

Thanks guys, I didn’t even know that Shadowplay was already on the system or anything :p This has always been a game I’ve wanted to record xD

@LoneSilverWolf pro-tip for Shadowplay; rebind the default key to capture the last 5 min of gameplay when trying to play Chivalry.
