Impact / Kill Feel
Hi Team, amazing Beta. As a Mordhau player, i congratulate u, Chiv 2 is far more like a true Medieval experience, it’s gritty, realistic. How do I explain , my main gripe having installed on friday, is that unlike Mordhau there is no crisp heavy bass , chink sound when you kill an opponent.
Same with blocks when weapons collide , there needs to be a very clean loud collision sound. Mordhau has many flaws , but the impacts or kills/blows are very polished, they are defined by very clear sound…
It feels just soft , you often don’t know if you’ve killed someone, there is nothing to alert you.
So the whole experience is quite fluffy as a result. In Mordhau when you deal a killing blow , there is a definitive metallic sort of pinging sound , which also must carry some low vibrational frequencies, because my chair motors kick in nicely.
I can actually feel when i kill on Mordhau. Whereas Chiv 2 , it’s like chopping through toilet tissue, there’s nothing!
You have to fix it guys,
Even when i hit someone , there’s no clunk ,
Lots of serious gamers will be using x rocker chairs with transducers built in, so they feel the hits.
Youve made this incredible game, but it constantly feels to me like im cutting through butter when i land hits!
Does that make sense??
OK so i have some more comment. I think the game object mechanics are designed so that weapon strikes often go right through the body, which gives the feel of swimming around in treacle!
Your strike should mostly stop at the target, unless you cleave off a limb of course, or glance off a blow. Then there needs to be a sound when your weapon stops as it hits the body
I agree completly. It would be a nice and logical add to the game. Also necessary
Yeah the hit audio could use some tweaking or massive overhaul. Not only does it not sound as satisfying as mordhau, it’s just plain hard to tell WHAT ive hit. Whether it’s a 1vX or just cleaving through to break the frontline. I want clear audio indication to what type of damage has been done to multiple enemies. You can only see so much with the numbers on the screen and the audio is the quickest way for the player to know they’ve done.
“or massive overhaul”
There has to be some exaggeration there. I personally was very impressed with much of the combat audio, with all the crunching and sloshing.
But inline with OP, and now that beta is over and I cant confirm, I dont recall a definitive killing blow sound, which would be nice. But chiv 2 is so chaotic with all the battle audio, all my info comes from the text anyway. But ill admit that if there was a specific KB chime youd hear in mist of the chaos, it would be pretty satisfying.
