FPS lag only on arena
-
Every other map I get around 40-60 FPS, but in arena i get 10-20 FPS. I’m guessing this is due to the amount of NPC’s in the crowd. I’ve seen mutliple other people claim that they get much lower FPS in arena.
-
If you type stat unit in the console what numbers do you see on the side?
-
On arena, 10-20 FPS, 40-60 MS, any other map, 61.96 FPS, 16.14 MS.
-
Is game, draw or GPU the highest nubmer?
-
I’m not sure how to check that (or what it means)
-
Under the numbers for stat unit, there should be 3 categories for game, draw and GPU.
-
Ah, sorry for some reason i read “stat unit” as “stat fps”. Frame and game are the same at 40-50 MS. Draw and gpu go from 10-20 MS.
-
Forgot to mention, on a normal map frame is at 16.14 ms, game is 7-13 MS, draw is 5-7 MS, and GPU is 11-17 MS.

brump

Are you perhaps using an Core i7 processor?
-
Yep

The fact that you asked about an i7 interested me, so I thought I’d test with and without HyperThreading enabled. (I really want these framerates fixed, so I’m doing all I can…)
It seemed that on Arena with 16 players, framerates were generally higher with Hyperthreading off, by about ~10fps. Battles still had framerate drops, but not as severe as with HyperThreading on, which reached as low as 20fps.
Comparison shows a lower framerate with HT off, but less latency in all categories? I don’t really understand what the numbers mean, but the game just felt better in general.Original images here and here.
EDIT: Should probably mention I have an i7 950, OC’d @ 4.0GHz and 2x GTX 560Ti’s in SLI

SRy for offtopic but how to Enable/Disable Hyperthreading ?
-
I’d like to know as well so i can try what lann mentioned.
-
It’s an actual BIOS setting, so it’s not for the faint hearted. I wouldn’t really recommend it, since you’d want to re-enable for normal computing, but it’d be safest to Google how to do it with your motherboard.
For me on my ASUS P6T, it was under Advanced > CPU Configuration > Intel HT Technology (or something along those lines).
I only did it for comparison, I’m not going to be playing the game with HT off because it’s such a pain to remember to enable/disable it before and after gameplay.
