How to duel-series

  • I am currently trying to do two things:
    1. start with making youtube commentary videos
    2. making chivalry duel guides

So I made a video about how to duel with a knight, give a few short tips and hopefully made a decent video. Since this is my second one, I’d appreciate to hear about what you guys think, so I can improve and become better at it.

Also if you are interested in dueling, this video should help you get started, once you found a duel server. It should also help you learn how to kickvote someone, as that was required during recording. :D

    The videos are here

    Man at Arms Dueling:

  • The video was a bit long.

I would suggest explaining each of the rules while giving examples of them, followed by a single duel with a friend.

  • Thanks for the feedback. Yes condensing information on a public server, where you are not sure what is going to happen, can be hard. I already found someone that I will be able to do the next duel setup with, so it should hopefully be better.

  • Very informative, but try to cut back on the time a bit. Other than that, good work.

  • Thank you for the kind comment. I uploaded the second video here, showing some information about the Vanguard. This has been done with post commentary, which felt like more work to me and I am thinking about training my commentary skills rather than going through all the video cutting process.
Although the video turned out good as well for a first one and seeing what one might be able to do with post commentary makes me wonder if all you need is just a more efficient easier to use program. I guess reading the manual should be a must now. :D
Daily videos will probably not be a regular thing for me though, with having to go to work and all that, so…I guess time will tell how it goes.

  • Last video has been uploaded, showing Man at Arms-dueling and talking about the class.

If everything goes well, I might do a video about general features like feinting, dodging, stabbing around a shield or mindgames in general.

  • Can you not use a shield?

  • If you mean the MaA video, my first kill was with no shield, although I do not see the shield as being important here. Using the way I block, mostly I time it with the shield, just like you would do with a parry. Although not using a shield would probably go into advanced videos, to show how not to fall for feinting most of the time.

Edit: Or did I misunderstand and this was an actual video request?

No, it’s just that shields cant be feint baited, and feints are really potent in this game. So you have a big advantage with a shield in 1v1 duels that you would otherwise not have.

  • You should find some dueling servers and make videos there. Usually it’s a 8-man FFA map, you go in, find loners and use taunts to initiate duels.

  • That was on duel servers. I explained that basically in my first video. Also yes, using a shield makes things easier. But when I record, my FPS drops drastically and it slows down the game, so it becomes really hard to duel. I can duel fine with no shield (still prefer to use them though, because of longer lasting duels and less reliant on feinting).

  • ill say like most of the ppls here , great video but just a bit too long , good work keep making videos good sire!

  • Shields are actually bad to have equipped when dueling IMO. Detrimental, even.
