Request: Helms Deep

    Or 64 players… But castle sieging will need to be in it aswell… Which isn’t preasantly ingame…

  • I have got a response from the creator of Helms Deep (polycount-board).

    Right now i can only tell you that he will unfortunatly not publish it in any form for us.

    I asked him to quote his response here, currently waiting for his goahead.
    Until then just know that we will have to create it ourselves.

    i myself am currently trying to learn the basics of mapcreation with the udk, but until i myself can create a map a lot of time will pass.

    im sad right now because of his response, but life is not always kind, so lets get over it ^^

    edit: His goahead was not given. So this shall remain a secret.

    Just know this, he has very rational and good reasons why not to publish it in any form. The map was just meant to be a project from himself for himself. It was never meant to be published and truth be told, it would still take lots of work to get it chivalry ready.

    So dont be mad at him, its his choice and as a creator of hidden worlds, he shall remain unknown.

    Ty for trying man, it was going to be epic to have this map.
    And I just can’t understand why he won’t publish it, hope he’s going to do something with it, otherwise he’s a ****! lol

    It’s my understanding that he’s using it as part of his portfolio. I can understand that he would want to keep it to himself. On the other hand, letting us play with it would expose it to more people. On the first hand, we would have to modify it some to make it playable and balanced, so then it wouldn’t truly be all his work. Also, he probably used high poly models and super high resolution textures. It would take a lot of massaging to get it optimized for a multiplayer game.

    Like I said before, if you really want this map, start by sketching out a floorplan and some concept art. Get enough people excited and who knows what will happen.

    We still need the mod tools to be able to do anything with it … cough cough ;)

    There is a link to the water shader on the video description so anyone can use it. However the watershader itself is never enough by itseld. The reflected enviroment has to look stunning aswell.

    good suggestion, but already did that when i asked the other guy for helms deep.
    My message was sent to him at november the 5th, just resent it to him pointing out that my previously sent message obviously got lost on the way ;)

    … but truth be told, he seems to be just ignoring me. ^^

  • LOVE THIS MAP! it brings back some great Age of Chivalry memories.

    don’t forget the super duper loud eardrum-breaking horn, the remake won’t be complete without it! :D
