This Game Should Support Mac Users

  • Hello Chivalry: Medieval Warfare community and developers. Firstly, this game looks great from the youtube videos I’ve watched and the people I’ve to talked to about it, but one problem I AM a MAC user. I think in the next couple of months or so, you should make this game able to play on both windows and macs for many different reasons. 1. I have talked to a lot of mac owners on different forums and such who would love to buy this game if it came out for the Mac, which would increase your sales. 2. A couple of Youtube commentators (like myself) use MacBooks, and would love to do a lets play or a review of this game, which other people (viewers) would see and would possibly buy the game. I know those are only two reasons for such a big request but the community would be MUCH appreciated if you made a Mac version. Thank you, and have a nice day

  • I’m not sure how difficult/expensive/feasible a port would be… but this is relevant to my interests. steeples fingers
I have a PC… but this also means I could play from anywhere. Myees.

  • Exactly! Because if you have a windows desktop, but are traveling and you cant take a whole desktop with you and you cant use your portable mac… What are you supposed to play! haha

  • About 90% of all games that are made for PC are made through Windows, it’s a standard and always been that way.
Releasing it to MAC would mean a whole new interface which costs alot of money and I don’t think a indie game have the fortune at the moment to make it possible.
Maybe in the future, but not soon.

cough so would adding females to the game cough

  • How about getting some of the more important things in first… Like, castle siege and other game modes, fixing bugs and glitches, and overall; making the game just more fair…

    Smooth.

  • Great idea, do it if it’s easy… feasible and cost-effective. If not, I would rather Torn-Banner direct their limited resources on other pathways for Chivalry.

That being said, is it not possible for Mac users to partition?

On their Kickstarter, they were about 14k away from making a Mac client.
So I think they either have stuff in place for a Mac client or were prepared to do so.

  • That is what I am saying, I saw on kickstarter they were kind of close to releasing it for mac. So obviously they have the tools, or have a mac version to release.

  • I just wish a tester or designer replied to this :/

The prerequisites do not install properly, until that is fixed, i do not know if the game will run, but in theory it should run ok, other games using the same engine run quite well.

Also native linux server support would allow for more servers to have lag free high player-count setups. ie 64+ players per server, without the ridiculously high server component requirements.
I dont know if unreal engine 3 has server export to linux, i know it doesn’t have client yet.

edit: got it working on ubuntu 12.10,
