Idea for moves



  • This idea is to be able to grab a player and hold them helpless for some time. Prerequirment for this will be to have your enemy off balance(with a kick for example) or take them by surprise(from behind).

    Another idea is to be able to disarm an enemy . When he blocks your attack you will have a chance to disarm him by just rolling the mouse to pierce. Then if the other player does not block quickly enough his weapon will get on the ground and he will fist fight until he changes weapon. OF course this prerequistes being able to pick up weapons from the ground. ( I just gave an example about how this could happen)

    So how do you see it ?



  • Bad ideas. That’s how I see it.

    There’s no reason to want to grab someone, unless there’s a teammember around to finish the grabbed person off. But in order to grab someone the soldier would have to quickly drop his weapon to get his hands free.
    Besides that, it’d be hard to get a firm grip on someone wearing medieval armour.

    And players should NEVER be able to lose their weapons in any FPS, whether through disarming or through durability loss.

  • AXE was thinking about heavy 2-handers and their current state. (2 handed Axes/Mauls… maybe Greatswords their range and speed mix is already pretty strong. )

    Previous threads AXE had seen had sers speaking about the idea of 2-handers being able to inflict guard damage, and let 2-handers wear down their enemies. This isn’t terrible idea, but AXE thinks about 2-handed fighitng, and he thinks of brutal smashes designed not to inflict chip damage… BUT CHOP DAMAGE.

    AXE thinks 2-handed weapons need an “All in” A massive stamina drain/stamina damage attack which if it empties the enemies stamina gauge, crushes the guard, Sunders shield… maybe inflicts SUCKING CHEST WOUND. Damage would be much like standard over-head. Maybe less to avoid oneshotting of frustrated babyman archers.

    This would allow 2-Handers to apply pressure and then go for the brutal finale. Big risk, Big reward.



  • Weapon disarms are great in FPS games (Anyone denying this obviously never played The Specialists mod for HL1), in saying that it just won’t suit this game.



  • Disarming will never happen, and grappling is a very similar concept.



  • AXE agrees, Mooks deserve to die with their weapon in hand. He still thinks his Guard Crush idea has merit, the more he thinks about it the more he likes it.

    Well, it used to be in Red Orchestra 1. And it was actually quite fun to run back and grab your gun.

    In Chivalry you normally have a second weapon and fists and kick. I could imagine it’s fun to be disarmed every once in a while.
