UDK.exe crash on launch



  • When i try launching the game through steam it shows the launch banner, freezes for a few seconds, then freezes and gives me the error message.

    i couldn’t find the dxdiag anywhere but that is my launch



  • What was the error message? It just stopped responding?

    To get DxDiag.txt, click the start menu button, type in “dxdiag.exe” without the quotes, launch the app that shows up in the search, wait for the green progress bar to finish loading in the bottom left hand corner, click Save All Information to generate the DxDiag.txt.

    Looks like your graphics card drivers are out of date. Try updating those and see if it helps any fingers crossed.

    after updating my driver it gets past the startup banner, enters the screen for the game then freezes

    Can you post a new log (you get farther now) and dxdiag.txt just to verify the driver installed correctly?

    Edit:
    All sorts of edits. Can you try logging into a different user (Adminstrator preferred) and see if it works? Also try right clicking the UDK.exe and try running as administrator.

    Can you try a Windows System File Checker? Maybe something got corrupt along the way. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833#method1

    Let’s see if the kernelbase.dll pops up as corrupted.

    Looks like there is a newer graphics driver that you could update to. Also, it seems a lot of people are getting hit with this kernelbase.dll epidemic. We need to wait and see what one of the higher powers has to say about it.
