Nonresponsive.



  • I downloaded the game yesterday, only to find a labrynith of errors and solutions that don’t work. I have tried about every single one, but it ALWAYS is nonresponsive. I tried reinstalling. I tried most of the things i have found. I have the exact same issue as posted here:

  • And I did check my operating systems. They are up to par, so it isn’t my computer.



  • Can you try this?

    The game crashes with "“Failed to create the D3D9 Device! This can happen if the desktop is locked. Exiting…”, or the game minimizes and can’t be reopened
    There’s two standard causes for this.

    1. The game is trying to start in an unsupported resolution.

    Right click on the game in your Steam library. Click “Properties”. Click “Set Launch Options”. Add:

    -resx=1280 -resy=720

    (replace 1280 and 720 with your desktop resolution’s width / height)

    1. Some other software is stealing focus away from the game or otherwise interrupting it as it’s trying to go into fullscreen mode. You should be able to start in windowed mode, however:

    To start in “Borderless windowed” mode (spans your entire screen like fullscreen mode does): Right click on the game in your Steam library. Click “Properties”. Click “Set Launch Options”. Add:

    -borderless -resx=1280 -resy=720

    Replacing 1280 and 720 with your desired resolution’s horizontal and vertical dimensions.

    Also, try going editing Documents\My Games\Chivalry Medieval Warfare\UDKGame\Config\UDKSystemSettings.ini - find the line that says Fullscreen=False and set it to true.

    Edit:
    Someone said that they had the same problem but just let it sit for like 10 minutes (walk away and come back) and it eventually worked. The first time launch of the game does take a bit longer than future launches.

  • To get DxDiag.txt, click on the start button/menu, type in dxdiag into the search field, open the dxdiag.exe app, wait for the little green progress bar to finish loading, click Save All Information. This will generate the DxDiag.txt. Attach it in a reply to this thread. Also, did you try letting it sit for a few minutes at the unresponsive screen? First time launch can take a little longer than normal.
