[SOLVED] Chivalry on steam won't work.



  • Ok, so I got this a few days back on a good sale. Problem is that whenever I try to load this bugger it gets to its intial title screen then moves onto loading up the screen so you can see their logo. This it errors out saying that it isn’t working and proceeds to close the program. Now, I have tested out various Trouble shoot fixes but, none of them are working sadly. I don’t get a .Dll error or any error of the sort. However, unlike many not getting logs in their Chivalry folder I was able to get mine.

    Try this:

    My game crashes without any error! (or an error talking about the SHA)
    First, right click on Chivalry: Medieval Warfare in your games list and hit properties.
    Then go to Local Files and "Verify Integrity of game cache"
    Try running the game.

    If your game still crashes, go to
    My Documents\My Games\ and delete the “Chivalry Medieval Warfare” folder.
    Then try running the game again.

    Finally, try launching the executable (UDK.exe, in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\chivalrymedievalwarfare\Binaries\Win32 or wherever you installed it) directly. Make sure Steam is running while you do so. If there’s an error about a DLL, proceed to the “I can’t start the game. When I try to start UDK.exe directly,…” problem below.

    Okay, please attach a DxDiag.txt just for a sanity check.

    I don’t know if you tried this or not, but go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\chivalrymedievalwarfare\Binaries\RedistChiv and run the two vcredist executables. Then go into DXRedistCutdown and run DXSETUP.exe.

    If that doesn’t work, please find the crash event in Windows Event Viewer. Click the start button, type in event viewer, launch the app that shows up in the search results, click on Windows Logs in the left panel and select the Application subcategory. Find the latest event relating to UDK.exe in the top-middle panel and paste the details from the big-middle panel here relating to it.
