BUG: Pop noise, then no sound

  • @sir_loin:

I’m gonna run this by the programmers, they are working with the hotfix so hopefully I can get them after that to take a gander asap. Those of you having this issue– anybody have no sound problems before patch and then had this start post patch? Or has this happened since launch, or do you not know because you first played after patch?

The reason I am asking is because I comb through looking for sound threads and I do not recall this issue being brought up since the game launched.

I’ve played pre-patch. The problem started post-patch here.
Lately, it hasn’t happen a lot, though.

Thanks for the info guys. Knowing your issue started post patch Bucket should help alot.

Let me know if there’s anything else I can do. I’m fairly expert at hardware and software, so I might be able to uncover something.

  • I’m also experiencing this, as are a fair number of other users (check the steam forums). The problem manifests exactly as OP described: a “popping” sound during gampelay, then an inability to get sound in-game (except at the main menu). Exiting and restarting the game temporarily fixes it.

    Super annoying.

Could it be related to this in anyway? Only sound dropout issue I can repro:

  • You know, since I reinstalled my system, I didn’t have this issue anymore.
The only difference is that I have it installed through UEFI instead of BIOS.

I’ve never had voice enabled in-game. The key wasn’t assigned either.

  • I have this problem also, paid £19 and I get this strait away! wtf is this! :(

  • So what is everyone’s exact and complete list of PC components?
Maybe we can find a culprit in certain hardware.

    CPU: Intel 2600k
    RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz
    MOBO: Asus P8Z68-V Pro
GFX: Asus 580 GTX DC II
    SFX: X-Fi Titanium Pro
    SSD: 2 × OCZ Vertex 3 120MB in RAID 0
    HDD: 2 × WD VelociRaptor 450MB in RAID 0

  • I have the same issue for quite sometime. Drivers are up to date. Maybe it is an intel thing. But definitely a game issue as the sound still works for everything else. It also only seems to happen on map change. Not sure why still.

  • Can’t resolve much if people don’t post their PC specs.

  • I have the exacty same issue as described by Bucketsmith, have had this since the launch aswell :) Its not game breaking but it does get a tad bit annoying having to restart the game each time only to have it reappear at random when joining a new server

  • Just for a little update, As I wrote in an earlier post, I haven’t encountered the problem since my clean reinstall of my system.
So, you know, it might just be software related. :/
No idea where to start the search from there on.
It could be a codec issue, a driver issue, some missing dlls… Who knows?

  • Same problem here aswell, very irritating at times.

  • I’ve only ever had this happen once, and it was when I joined a friend via the steam overlay or by invite.
