UDK.exe has stopped working

  • I just bought this game last night and woke to find that it doesn’t load at all. It always crashes from the play button. I have not seen the game load once. I have read a few threads in forums none of which really have shown any proven solutions.

    1. I have verified the integrity of the game cache - okay
    2. checked the minimum system requirements - should be okay
    3. updated drivers for Raedon HD 5XXX driver - okay

What else can I really do? Should I reinstall the game?

  • As far as I am aware I don’t have a log file, but I will create one with Event Viewer.

  • Skipping the Vista jokes…

Did you run the two vcredist executable files from C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\chivalrymedievalwarfare\Binaries\RedistChiv and the DXSETUP.exe from DXRedistCutdown folder?

Attach your DxDiag.txt and the details from the Event Viewer on the crash.

  • Please attach a DxDiag.txt for sanity check.

Move the D3DCOMPILER_43.dll out of your system32 to a safe place as a backup, then rerun the DXSETUP.exe.

  • Hello,

I did what you mentioned. After double clicking DXSETUP.exe I found that the game installed and loaded properly. Big thanks! If the bug persists I will post again.

Yay! I’m glad that it works for you! See you on the battlefield. :k1:

  • Actually, now I am getting crash to desktop problems every 30-60 seconds. Now it involves not just Chiv by other steam games like Empire:total war which played fine before.

It’s not a crash per se, it just jumps to desktop but the game still runs in the background. But, I can’t stop it from happening every few seconds.

  • Minimizing to the Desktop perhaps?
