I was thinking that even normal swings overheads and stabs should all have the property of blocking incoming attacks if properly placed. For instance let’s say Knight One begins to overhead Knight Two, But Knight Three comes in and pokes between them and stops Knight One’s overhead via his polearm or other melee weapon.
It would give swinging and hitting just swords together from a distance a more realistic fighting feel instead of just swinging through someones weapon and striking. Possibly swat peoples attacks away if they are loading one if you hit there weapon only.
I think that this is already half implemented into the game. I’ve accidentally blocked a few hits from enemies, even without actually bringing the weapon up for a block. Maybe the game does recognise weapons as an entity. :)
