Content Update 1 Beta 1 is live

    Patch notes are coming. This patch does not yet contain all of the planned fixes and features from Content Update 1, and maps and new modes are not yet completely polished (for example, you will notice missing textures in maps, and the new UI elements haven’t been artified yet). We plan to release further beta patches before this update is complete, so stay tuned!

    Main changes:

    • New maps: Citadel (Team Objective), Frigid (LTS, CTF, TD), several duel maps, CTF variants of Ruins

    • New gamemodes: CTF, Duel

    • Alternative starting-direction for swings and overheads (default: hold Alt before pressing the attack button)

    • Various smaller improvements

    If you have read the above and still wish to test the beta, please following these instructions:

    1. Right Click “Chivalry: Medieval Warfare” on your game list
    2. Hit Properties
    3. Click on the “Betas” tab
    4. In the dropdown menu, select the “Beta” branch. You should see "Successfully opted into the ‘Beta’ content beta.
    5. Close the window and the next time you go to launch the game, Steam will automatically begin to download the update.

    If you wish to go back to the release build, follow the above steps, except in the drop-down menu, select “NONE - Opt out of all beta programs.”

  • New javelins, buffs to several weapons most noticeably the Bearded Axe. Starting a swing from the left adds a whole new dynamic to feints and countering shields. Awesome stuff so far.

  • Before the patch is released, please also fix these stats bugs so we can eliminate every stat bug from the game! :D

    • 1H Axe stabs are using SwingBlunt instead of Blunt (or pierce for the War Axe).
    • Fists are using the fist damage type on the kick, which will cause different damage values to different classes, it should be Shove.
    • Longsword 1H stabtoslash02 is 0.1s faster than it should be.
    • Claymore slash01tostab is 0.05s slower than it should be.
    • Zweihander slash01toslash02 is 0.025s slower than it should be.
    • Zweihander stabtoslash02 is 0.2s slower than it should be.

    Edit: One more -

    The Greatsword is the only weapon in the game which combos to an attack faster than it’s windup from idle, on the overhead (0.6 combo, 0.7 windup).

    Although I’ll probably rebind Alt because I’m not sure that would be comfortable enough for me enough in the middle of combat. I’ll probably use a mouse thumb button or something.



  • Zweihander sprint attack damage still the same as a normal slash then? :?

    There’s a server-side crash in duel that needs to be fixed, so the duel server is going to mostly be down until the next build. This being the week of Christmas, that may be delayed a bit. Sorry!

    Why didn’t you guys make the regular javs reload time 0.9? Why do heavy javs still only do 3% more damage? Have you guys considered putting ammo boxes on every map? CTF doesn’t even have ammo boxes.

  • CTF will have ammo boxes. That was an oversight on my part.



  • Ugh, that alternative swinging direction is gonna throw me off hardcore, especially with my weird lefty numpad config. Gonna be hard to configure another key for alternative swings.



  • This is awesome, espessaily the left side attaacks.

    One thing though. I am guessing it comes from what seems to be some weapons keeping the combo speed, for left side swings. Such as the claymore: If you swing left with pressing alt, the swing will be alot faster than the normal right side swing. I would reccommend fixing this. Not sure how many others weapons are affected.



  • All alt attacks use the same times as normal attacks, you might just be perceiving it that way because during the windup, the blade has to reach the other side, rather than start on the side it’s already on.



  • I can’t join the duel servers, they are not in the server list, only the CTF and TO ones.
    the links doesn’t work either.
