I was looking at how mapping worked for AoC, and was scared away by the amount of entities needed to actually create an objective game and run it.
Can the entity-placement be simplified somehow for CBA, thus allowing more artsy fartsy people to make maps?
Short answer is… yes.
Unreal is much easier to use than source in these regards. No crazy optimization it has it built in, ect. I will say working with Source is easier for .BSP building but thats about the only advantage.
