"Please wait while the game loads…" Still no help given...

  • This is an issue which I have seen posted about before. However none of the various solutions provided seem to work with me. While I can easily access the training and ‘create game;’ functions, and while clicking ‘Join Game’ loads the server list fine, no matter what I try, I have been unable to connect to a single server…I simply get the same message: “Please wait while your game loads”, which comes with the promise of an endless wait for nothing.

Please find enclosed my latest launch log. I would appreciate any and all help relating to this matter. It really looks a superb game, and the training area made me v excited about trying it against real people. I have no technical expertise whatsoever, hence why this is so baffling to me.

    All the best,

    Boromis.

  • Yeah, can’t connect to any server either, please fix.

  • I have since attempted a complete re-install of the game, and this also did not help.

Attached here is the latest log after waiting out the ‘Please wait’ to an error message.

I’d really appreciate someone at least having a look at the log and telling me where things are going wrong.

    Thank you.

    Boromis.

  • Also getting this error. Please someone help.

  • It seems as if these topics are just getting completely ignored. CAN WE GET SOME RESOLUTION?

  • This is still an issue I cannot find a solution for. I would be VERY appreciative if someone were to at least glance at the log and tell me where it’s going wrong.

    Thanks,

    Thanks,

Are you launching the game through Steam or through a shortcut or the UDK.exe?

Please remove the line “Suppress=DevOnline” from your UDKEngine.ini (Documents\My Games\Chivalry Medieval Warfare\UDKGame\Config). Then try to connect to a server (preferably an official one). After it times out, exit the game and then attach a new Launch.log here.

  • Through a shortcut. :)

    Thanks ReMixx! :)

  • @Boromis:

    Through a shortcut. :)

    Ew ew ew ew!

Doing that circumvents Steam meaning that you’re not authenticated to Steam meaning that you can’t authenticate to servers meaning that you cannot connect!

… I say that but it seems that you are authenticated to Steam from your log:

For kicks and giggles, try launching through Steam Library instead of through a shortcut. fingers crossed

  • Thanks!

I tried that and it didn’t work, I’m afraid. I’ve attached the appropriate log.

    Boromis.

  • Developer

I can’t connect to that server either. Can you try connecting to, say, an Official Multiplay one and give us the log? Also, try connecting to one directly by IP, as: open the console (the scroll lock button, the tilde button, or the apostrophe button (on a UK keyboard)), then type in:

    open 184.173.185.123:8277

    and hit Enter/Return.

  • Ok, I’ll try that. Sorry, I didn’t know really how to identify an official server. Will try forthwith!

    Boromis.

  • Ok, opening the console, typing that command and hitting enter does nothing at all.

I don’t know which of the servers are official ones, and can’t identify them by name. Any idea what I should be looking for?

    Boromis.

  • Okey doke, I can’t find any of these servers. They don’t show up on the list and searching for their names in the filters comes up with nothing.

The links provided next to the names in the thread open Chivalry, but nothing more…

  • What router/modem do you have?

What kind of firewall/antivirus/antimalware/antispyware software do you have?

Are you on a residential or university internet connection?

  • University internet connection.

    Avast antivirus.

Don’t have access to the router/modem because, as above, on Uni Internet.
I thought it might be the Uni internet, but Steam is supposed to be accessible, and I can play online on other Steam games such as Magicka?

    Boromis.

PS Thanks for being so helpful, ReMixx! I know it must be frustrating trying to help a complete ignoramus. :)

Okay, first step. Disable Avast completely (you can reenable later after we finish trouble shooting). If that doesn’t help, it’s probably your university firewalling your connection. We had another guy on here a few months back who had to call his university’s IT department and ask for them to allow it through the firewall (viewtopic.php?f=69&t=6569).

  • My turn to chime in.

I played my server (rented hosted) this morning. I left for a while. Now i cant join a game. Nothing changed between then and now. Well, something did but nothing on my end.

    Holy moses.

  • FWIW i re-installed steam. im in.
