The opposite of defend the king.



  • Rescue the princess/queen.

    Basically what I had in mind was pretty much the same basic TO design. except that in this case, it’s not the best player becoming the king in the end, but the worst becoming a princess/queen, that need to be rescued/escorted out somewhere. Thoughts?

    Same rules as in defend the king then. In this case, the second worst player is spawned as the princess.

    thats a bit better but what if a sudden rage quit happens?
    instead of a princess why not a prince, a emissary or a duke or something, it makes it less shameful.



  • Might have to make this more of an escort thing with a random players spawning as queen until they die, than the best players spawning as them. You would have to escape imprisonment with the defends being the ones trying to kill/prevent the escortee from the goal. It’s like a living person being a cart that needs to be escorted.

  • Randomly-selected VIP is better, but I can only see this working if the VIP has an active role in escaping in the first place, otherwise they’re just sitting there for potentially an entire match as people try to free them.

    If it’s purely an escort gametype, the priority will be forming shieldwalls/meatshields to ward off projectiles and that’s not exactly fun for the defenders.

    Perhaps the VIP is in a carriage and the attackers have to damage it enough that it breaks down and the VIP must proceed on foot at a slower pace. This can be accomplished by a bot on a preset path methinks, because again, boring for the person playing VIP unless they can actively participate.

  • I have visions of a TO objective involving a forest ambush; protect the agathan queen inside her cart against waves of mason attackers charging down through the surrounding woodland. Further leading onto something else if the queen is kept safe 8-)
