My first thought in regards to the second gif was not “OH MY GOD, THAT IS HORRIFIC AND WRONG”, but merely: “That actor has reacted a smidgen too late to the prosthetics effect, bwahahahaw, silly actor!” …I guess I’ve become way too desensitized.
And that was a mighty fine barrel, once.

I dunno, considering the slow motion that is used and human reaction time to injuries, it seemed about right to me.
