What if Chivalry is a future version of our world millions of years away from our time spawn.
What if nuclear warfare and disease made the civilization to collapse and step backward, killed and divided the people into small communities that gradually lost all the knowledge of humanity.
Until Agatha united the people under one flag, reborning in a Medieval world.

There was actually a book about something along those lines except it was about peak oil and when fossil fuels were gone and humanity was forced to live without it. Basically, the technology of today was unusable because there was no oil to power anything and people were forced to live like they did before fossil fuels.

Maybe it is like the quarantined survivors of a virus cut off from the rest of the world like in that movie Doomsday.
Perhaps there is a giant wall around the Chivalry world with the present day modern world still going on outside it. :D
